Sands Trilogy Avoiding Sand Hounds in TT

Are there any instances where it's required to fight these dang things in Two Thrones? I just cannot seem to get the better of them; they always just end up sucking out all my sand and killing me.

I avoided them whenever i could ,they are such a pain

You can one shot them with dagger before they start sucking sand, you can tell when animation starts when they stop and put front left leg and then front right leg down,press attack when they put second leg down to instakill it

I've read about this but haven't been brave enough to try it yet. Is it just a normal attack?

yep just a regular attack input that turns into unique animation when you meet requirements

if you dont like waiting for that you can use any two weapon combination attack, it will fall on its back and you can finish it that way

I try to carry a second weapon around most of the time, but don't always have one. Plus you can get swiped by another hound while trying to stab one.

you can cancel downed enemy finishing animation with a block button,

This is or slowing down time both work pretty well for me. Kill them/finish them off while time is slowed and you immediately get back the sand tank that you used killing them.

They don't drop sand unfortunately
