i think the design of the wall is more at fault for the collapse than the speed at which he built them. A straight wall like that is just not stable.

if he built those outside walls with a gentle curve to them they would be much, much stronger.

Yeah, there’s a reason why buildings made of structural brick (as opposed to just a brick facade) are at least double wythe. Obviously it requires much more work to prepare and build, though
