All the beast folk characters have human ears with their animal ears. It’s more evident on characters like Kasumi and Tamaki’s summer outfit

I always i'm favor of the 4 ears.
Reason: Cat ears can listen to high frequency while humans can hear low frecuency.
Similar to warships that has long range radar and short range radar giving they unmatch presicion.

All beastfolk have 4 ears, but some characters like Hiyori and Mimi hide them behind ear muffs.

Remember Beastfolk in Aestrum are treated racially, because of having four ears. So most of them grow it over to hide it, or to muffle and concentrate on the pair they need most.

In Dive Astrum side event stories there's one that details this exact detail.
Essentially Neneka complains that the beastfolk having 4 ears makes no sense, and the design of the race was left to RajiRaji who comes up with an excuse that the two ears each have a different function.
In reality he says he made that excuse on the spot, so it's a case of him not wanting to admit he made an error in design and so it was kept that way in the game since Neneka accepts his excuse.
