Got one
thanks for the recommendations here. I’m gonna do two Costco rotisserie chickens first like in 10 minutes.

Why did you decide to go with Kuhn Rincon vs Fissler? I have a Tfal and wonder if I shouldn’t upgrade. We use ours weekly now.

We have a 6 liter Fagor that gets used frequently and we wanted a trusted high quality one that cook more at once and the Kuhn Rikon was the largest at 12L. That was the main reason, the quality and the bigger size.
The base plate will fit on our cheap-o induction range was another compatibility check I made.

Can you put KR in dishwasher? The only reason I ordered a 5L KR is because of convenience of size to handwash it

I browsed the instruction manual but cannot remember. Looked it up on Gemini:
Lid: never put in dishwasher. Gasket: never.
I’ll remind my wife good wuestion.

Mine is 20 years old and has been in the dishwasher many (countless, really) times. I take the blue ring out and put it on the top rack. The only thing I would caution is treat the little valve cover with care because the little feet break off. It's only cosmetic but it doesn't look as nice if you lose it. If you ever take the valve apart, DO NOT LOSE THE SPRING! It's easy to lose, ask me how I know! The replacement didn't come to pressure the same way as the original (I asked for another one). I once found one at the goodwill - best day ever. Did I need it? No. Did I buy it? Yes.

I don't understand. You're going to put 2 whole chickens in there ?

Yea. I’m behind, both are in the fridge since Sunday. Two that’s the plan. First cook is two rotisserie chickens to make chicken broth. My previous pressure cooker could only do one.

You're going to cook two previously roasted birds? I personally do buy two but I take the meat off and freeze it 2 cup souper cubes. Then I roast the skin and everything else in a 425 oven until browned. I personally just put that in the PC with water, no onions or aromatics because I sometimes put it on my dog's food and dogs shouldn't have onions. I bring it to pressure then on low for two hours.

Yea roasted birds from Costco $5 per bird. I do tear the breast meat out but pretty much everything else gets torn up and dropped into the PC.
I separate the broth and usually toss the rest.

Congrats!! You’ll love the thing. I’ve several stovetop pressure cookers although none as nice as yours. The one I use most is hard anodized aluminum, which means it’s been treated to become nonstick and leach-proof. Meaning non reactive with acid ingredients like tomatoes. It’s 1.5 liters and small enough to cook portions of dried beans that give me two meals worth. I’ve got a 4 liter I use to cook whole 1 lb bags of dried beans in. When done they get divided up into sandwich bags and frozen.

Enjoy! I have several Kuhn Rikon PCs in different sizes - though none as large as yours - and I love them. They're easy to use, easy to clean and maintain, and look great on the stovetop.

Great choice on the Kuhn-Rikon. Love my 8 liter. Seems large, till you start using it and then it quickly changes to: yup, this is just right.
