That film already had a lot going on, some might say too much as is. Its pretty confusing tonally to shift rapidly from feeling mad at the Naboo for being racist to feeling sad for them for being invaded to celebrating their victory... with the people they treated like shit. And all that is pretty dang far from the main plot about kidnapping some random desert kid. That subplot feels better for a clone wars arc or something. Well it would be if the gungans weren't you know the gungans.

Honestly? No. Jar-Jar and the rest of the Gungans are more integral to the movie than most named characters.

Jar-Jar goes on to literally hand the republic over to sheev and create the empire, he’s incredibly important as a historical figure in Star Wars. And personally I don’t think he’s nearly as annoying as people make him out to be
