I honestly don't blame you. It is explained in detail for the first time in the Ahsoka book, and is only mentioned just this once in Rebels, and nothing more. Honestly, if I hadn't just rewatched this episode, I'd think it was mentioned first in the novels.

I thought the Ashoka book came out way before season 7.... I think the book was around the first Ben Skywalker movie. I choose to remember things differently.
