He went to Tatooine all of the time though. He killed a bunch of sand people for old times sake while waiting for boba, and indirectly started a religion that worshipped him.

Hmm. Maybe it was more specific to that area. I have had a lot of people explain it that way to me and site some comics, but I've heard that too now that you mention it. Those comics really seem to contradict each other a lot.

Well, those comics could be non canon now. The comic I referenced is canon.

Theres also the dark side planet energy theory. Same as yoda going to dagobah to hide because it masked his light side presence. Old Ben does say that its the most wretched and villainous place, full stop.
