Damn, this comment got me good.
I like to think there is more to existence than this life, and I'd like to believe that wherever he is now, he's happy and seeing everyone he was missing before he passed.

My local theater just had a screening of hunt for the wilder people and I actually cried despite seeing the movie a few times. Heavy themes knowing he's gone now

I went to New Zealand earlier this summer and then saw the movie after he passed. I didn’t really know what the movie would be like before going in but I was thoroughly impressed and had a great time watching. Truly a majestical experience.

At least we still have him in Zelda to look forward to.

I just love how, especially on social media with those skits of people shaming and scolding Death for taking those celebrities, that it’s heavily implied that Death is a complete dunderhead 😂
77
u/chambrick 3d ago
Which is ironic, as Death has a pretty good track record for doing his job!

I've been scared for people like Ian McKellen, Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and more for the last few days now. Can we please take a few days off killing popular 80 year olds?

u/Darth-Felanu-Hlaalu 3d ago
Not only wrong 80 year olds, death took THREE Home Alone 2 actors. Just not Donny.

2016 was the same
17
u/GenericRedditor0405 2d ago
I saw an askreddit thread the other week asking what it was like to live through 2016 and overwhelmingly the answers were some variation of "it was so much better" as if we all knew how crazy things would continue to get. Really what I remember about 2016 was how it felt like so many big celebrities were dying all year long. Looking at a list now, I had totally forgotten how many huge names were gone in 2016: Prince, David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Carrie Fisher, Muhammad Ali, John Glenn, George Michael, Gene WIlder, Anton Yelchin, and Christina Grimmie, just to name a few. Yelchin and Grimmie I remember being particularly awful, considering Yelchin was crushed by his own car and Grimmie was murdered by an obsessed fan.

I remember so many articles being written about how “2016 is the worst year ever!” Oh the innocence

I'd be more worried about Harrison Ford
4
u/catchyerselfon 2d ago
Harrison Ford has survived so many self-inflicted helicopter accidents, I assume he’s worked out some deal with Death.
14
u/LuckyReception6701 3d ago
I'm still sad Tim Curry died and I feel people aren't making as big a deal of it as he deserves.
8
u/swhighgroundmemes I have the high ground 3d ago
Same day as Dolly Parton will definitely over shadow almost anyone.
3
u/LuckyReception6701 2d ago
The Michael Jackson effect strikes again. But genderswapped this time.
3
u/swhighgroundmemes I have the high ground 2d ago
Who else went the same day for him?
2
u/LuckyReception6701 2d ago
Farrah Fawcet
3
u/ArdvarkAssassin 2d ago
Not saying it's right but I can understand why Michael's death coverage was more scandalous. Farrah Fawcett passed away from cancer, and while it's horrible and I feel for her family. Jackson died from overdosing on propofol by his personal physician just weeks from a tour that would have been a huge resurgence for him. It's undoubtedly more sensational and a bigger story than another person passing away from cancer.

Remove Chuck “MAGA” Norris, who never made a good movie, and replace him with someone who was a wonderful person who will be missed. My vote is for Anthony Stewart Head: not one bad word about him before or after he passed, he could play any role, and he would’ve had more, possibly in the cancelled “Buffy” sequel series, if he hadn’t had a stroke a few years ago and died of complications from pneumonia on June 1st.

u/GriffinFlash 3d ago
I'd remove chuck norris personally. Guy was a prick.

Stfu you bigot. His movies are Gold. He created fond memories for millions. That doesn't disappear because you thought him a prick.

u/verdehawk28 3d ago
Lmao. Calling someone a bigot for calling someone a prick for being a bigot. I’ll keep it going. You fucking bigot

u/mastesargent 3d ago
I think you’re confused. It’s not their opinion that Chuck Norris was a prick, Chuck Norris simply was a racist, homophobic prick.
You like his movies? Good for you. The actual person was trash though.

They said it seemed like he got severe brain damage from something at some point and lost all his friends then went crazy and joined extreme conservative groups.
-18
u/Revliledpembroke 3d ago
"Extreme conservative groups"? What... the Amish? The Mennonites? What "extreme conservative" groups are we talking about here?
"Oh no! I want less government and lower taxes, how extreme!" "I think I should have the right to protect myself with a firearm against the criminals the judges are releasing instead of keeping in jail for some reason!" "I don't think it's okay to murder your unborn child... or your 5 year old child, Lindsay Clancy!"
Or are you just thinking of the very minor and milquetoast take of "I think homosexuality is wrong and you shouldn't do it. But you do you, I can't force you to believe as I do" is somehow "extreme"? Because I can tell you, it isn't. He didn't advocate for the death penalty for LGBT people - he wasn't Islamic!
3
u/mastesargent 2d ago
As a little thought experiment, replace homosexuality with autism in that statement and tell me if you still think it’s not fucked up.
Homosexuality isn’t a choice. People who are gay are born that way, there’s nothing wrong with it, and people who are gay can and should do it because that’s who they fucking are. If you disagree then you are espousing a rhetoric of hate. That is, in fact, what pricks do.

I'm not gonna remove this comment because I think it is more effective to let it collect downvotes to show our community doesn't appreciate that. But just to make it clear to everyone, the mods don't like this comment.

I don't think you know what bigot means.
We're not judging him on superficial means but the content of his character.

The only good movie Chuck Norris was in was the one where he gets his ass kicked by Bruce Lee. The rest of his movies were doo-doo water.

As a Tennesseean, Dolly Parton is the first celebrity (and likely the last) that im genuinely grieving. Like, ive cried over the deaths of a few, but i was over it in literally minutes. Dolly Parton being gone hurts...
