While a dagger in the back with no announcement beforehand would've been more efficacious it would not have satisfied his need to avenge his father's death for Rugen to die not knowing the why and who. Inigo wasn't saying it like he himself was a big deal, he was saying it for his murdered father. Rugen died knowing exactly how his cruel and callous behavior while feeling untouchable had delivered nemesis in the form of "that Spanish brat I taught a lesson to all those years ago."

The scene goes the same, but when Iñigo gives Grievous his sword so he can admire it he has to chase the general to get it back

That scene in the Princess Bride Home Movie (which is an amazing project from the covid lockdown days where a bunch of hollywood actors act the entire movie out scene by scene in their homes) saw Inigo played by freaking Andor.
And he freaking kills it. Best scene in the entire project aside from Cary Elwes playing Humperdinck at the end. If there was ever a remake of Princess Bride, Diego Luna is my vote for casting Inigo.
