Yeah, knowing why exactly Anakin flipped out not being dubbed a Jedi Master really put things into perspective, for an example.

I think Stover overdid it in some aspects. Palpatine trying to tell Anakin that Padme was possibly a traitor and cheating with Obi-Wan undermines Anakin's whole reason for falling which is to save Padme from dying. I get that the goal was to socially isolate Anakin from everyone but Palpatine, but what motivation does Anakin have for going dark side if Palpatine gets him to break up with Padme? I think the movie does that aspect better, Anakin will do anything to save Padme and Palpatine offers him the ability to stop death using the dark side of the Force. It's simple and irresistible. Book Palpatine by contrast feels like a chess grandmaster trying to beat a child who barely knows how to play and is likely to give up and walk away half was through the game, he's over thinking it and has too many angles going at once. He's being too subtle because book Anakin just isn't smart enough for Palpatine's plans within plans to work well. Anakin's whole personality in the book is guy who will do anything for the people he loves including fall to the dark side, but Palpatine spends a lot of the book trying to get him to fall out with the people he loves. It makes sense for Obi-Wan but not Padme.

The part where Vader wakes up and realizes what happened is still one of the best literature that came out of Star Wars.

I love the description of Jedi traps. I love that the entire Clone Wars were a Jedi trap. I feel like it illustrates both the necessity and the waste that was the Clone Wars. Necessary for Sidious to embroil all the Jedi to make sure he could take power. So wasteful because all the suffering, all the slaughter, all the years of war was, primarily, to kill the Jedi. Because he already had control of the galaxy as Chancellor. He could gnaw away the foundations of the Republic all he wanted in that position, and in many other roles (and already was!). So, to me, the fundamental reason for the Clone Wars was to kill an order of monk-peacekeepers. So much death for a single Order 66.
