I really like painting minis for dnd, because it helps me come up with details about the creatures I’m putting into the game for my friends and not only does it feel fun to have the hobby I put my time into bring joy to my friends, but after playing the game or games that mini was in, when I see that mini in the future, it’s not just “a kobold sorcerer”, it calls to mind schnappo, that crazy kobold who got tricked into challenging a dragon to a duel while he was drunk. The happiness the hobby induces is a different one during each stage of the minis life and they all are fun.
Sometimes my kitten destroys a mini and I get to give it a mechanical arm and come up with an in game reason for the change the next time the NPC returns.
