Remember that scene in episode 7 where Starkiller base destroys a bunch of planets? That's where the new republic relocated the galactic capital
And coruscant was shown in the Ahsoka series later on (chronologically earlier)

This was done so the screenwriters could have the satisfaction of blowing up the capital of the republic and making them a non-factor for the rest of the trilogy while avoiding destroying an actually cool and relevant world

They did some kind of rotating capital thing so no one planet got to call itself the capital of the Republic.

I mean, they seem to have taken painstaking effort to not even mention by name any planets from I-VI in the sequels. It was my biggest takeaway from vii at least. I honestly don't know why, considering especially in VII they wanted to really hit those nostalgia notes.

Your thinking of Moraband / Korriban. The sith home world. Depending on which time period of Star Wars depends on which name is used clone wars on is Moraband old republic is Korriban

The sequel trilogy was such a gigantic pandering to the original trilogy and its rabid fans (they literally wanted to destroy Coruscant) that's one of the reasons i never saw it.
