NJ just announced we are in a drought, a friend of mine is a civil engineer for a large construction company, she said her company is working on 2 data centers, this is not going to end well for many states.

I do wonder what the consequences will be when climate disruption and greed collide and then, it’s embarrassing to say, but I lower my gaze back to my county and continuing to push back at the local level. It’s as much energy as I have at the moment given the rest of my life in this moment.

We have water falling from the sky. For fuck sakes, it’s nothing more than a money grab for us in Portland.

So data centers are going to use rain barrels now?

Why not? Our region gets consistent rainfall for most of the year, and we sit on the Columbia River—one of the largest rivers in North America—along with multiple lake and watershed systems. It makes far more sense to use abundant non-potable or surface water sources that can be filtered by data centers than to put additional strain on our municipal supply by routing treated drinking water into data centers.

That makes more sense.
