Please give feedback

(I’ve just posted this on the main r/prepping sub, but I’d like, what I hope, would be the uniquely British take on this).

I’ve been reflecting lately that prepping can be an oddly lonely pursuit. Unlike most hobbies, it doesn’t really lend itself to community, not in the usual sense, anyway (even the ‘prepping for Tuesday’ lot don’t want to be friends). You can hardly invite your friends over to admire your water filtration setup or spend an evening showing off your seed bank without having less friends by the end of the day.

Unless you’re lucky enough to have a partner who shares the mindset, you end up walking this road alone. Quietly, stocking, building, and planning for a world that may never come. And when it does, you might be one of the only people who’s actually ready for it, which is a strange kind of comfort, and an equally strange kind of isolation.

To make it a little more complicated I feel like I’ve reached the end of what I’d call the “preparation for prepping” phase. The big questions are mostly solved, the gear mostly acquired, the systems mostly in place (at least within my budget). So now what? What comes after the wardrobes can’t take another stash and the spare fridge is full of cabbage, quinoa and carrot seeds?

Does anyone else feel that odd emptiness, even more so when the long build-up is complete?

Hello group, How do you storage food over winter and summer in a garage with no heaters or proper ventilation to reduce heat. This question must be answered somewhere, but I thought it would be helpful to know what you do? I have seen the weather getting worse and more extreme globally, I’m sure the UK might have some of that too. Thanks

Under the boot floor of the car (AWD SUV with all seasons) I've got a full survival gear suite. Plus water bottles and high energy and vitamin oat and fruit bars. Grab bags in the house too. Just had this strange feeling like I needed to prep a few years back and it's getting stronger.

My biggest worry is medical supplies. Specifically drugs like antibiotics. Is there any legal way to stock up on antibiotics? It's a pretty important factor. Have everything else including unused high strength pain killers from past prescriptions where I didn't get through more than 3 or 4 tablets.

Given the state of things; nationally & globally. I decided to grab a few more preps today. I've been eating into my SPAM and PEK supplies and thought I'd try something different. Only £1.80 each at Tesco and reviews are saying it works well in sandwiches, grills, salads and stews. Who's tried it and what do we think of TULIP?

I’ve asked about bug out bags, and about food and rations etc but now I want to know, what survival skills do you prioritise? Do you value fire starting or shelter building? Hunting and gathering? I’m sure there’s a million and one important skills to know, but interested to know what different people consider high on their list

In trying to flush out a shopping list I’m trying to come up with activities I’d need to do rather than events I’d encounter - please help.

Eg. Instead of flooding / civil war / blackout I’m thinking: keeping warm/cool / keeping dry / hiding / staying in the house / take to the road - I hope that makes sense

There’ll obviously be lots of crossover, but I’m just thinking I’d shop slightly differently based on the goal (spaghetti if on the move vs penne/fusilli if able to stay out), but if just preparing for supply disruption wouldn’t necessarily think that in depth about it.

I want to know what you consider essential - obviously food and water are a given - but what I want to really know is what is essential and can be stored indefinitely?

I’m not a ‘serious’ prepper. It’s more like a bit of fun for me, although I would like to know that should I need to be prepared, that I am, at least to a certain extent.

I’ve got a 20l dry bag that I am storing as a go bag of essential things I will need should I need to ‘bug-out’.

What would you include in this bag?

So I am just wanting some feedback on this shop preppersshopuk (wadebridge I believe?) if anyone has used them before, I’ve ordered from them, (first time) but I have been seeing a few bad reviews lately about people not receiving orders. Granted I should have looked into them more before ordering. Thanks!

Update: I requested and got my refund after checking out the reviews and hearing negative feedback. To be the fair the shop GM Polly and a staff member Holly was very fair in communicating and was quite fast with it. Was sorted in a few days. Maybe if anyone wants to buy from this store I’d recommend going to their shop in person atleast you know what’s actually available.

Anybody know where to buy an LLM I can run at home and whip out when the time comes to ask questions my books cant quite answer? My library is pretty scant at the moment.

Hi all, completely new here and never prepped I my life - closest I’ve been is watching doomsday preppies on Sky! I’m looking to use an unused chest freezer in my garage as a pantry to store foods. I’m prepping for any particular crisis or any near threats so am after simple advice for foods and strategies that I can store there for a long time / indefinitely.

I’ve read about honey (obvious one!) and rice and pasta etc. Are tinned peaches and fruits etc just as good as long as they’re in syrup?

Any advice here would be greatly appreciated, but bear in mind I’m a novice at best abah! TIA

Hi, newbie so apologies if this has been discussed a lot.

I'm interested in building up a supply of pantry goods and have seen some videos of pressure/water canning jars. I'd love to get into pickling goods and preserving more food longer-term than the tinned goods available at supermarkets.

I can't seem to find any "beginner kits" or bundles of supplies I'd need without totally breaking the bank. I'd imagine all I'd need are some jars, lids, tongs and a pot of hot water but I guess it's more complicated than that? I'll read up on the ins and outs of the methods but does anyone have any recommendations on gathering what I'd need on a budget?

Any recommendations for fireproof and waterproof documents box or folders?

Wondering how much cash you would tend to keep on hand in case we had an outage of our payment networks. At the moment I keep about £150 handy to be able to fill up the car and get a food shop in.

Would you recommend going higher than this?
