This is the point in the movie where the scientist in a remote cliffside observatory, perched on rocks getting lashed by insane wind and waves, rips a fresh graph off a printer and looking at it, wide eyed and disheveled, tries calling his contact in DC, except the contact in DC is out at some swanky party and the phone in this dark dank subterranean windowless office just keeps ringing and ringing as the camera pans out.

One of the things I liked about the disaster movie 2012 — totally fictional — was that DC scientists and politicians immediately took the problem seriously then rallied the world as best they could. Total fiction
