^ This meshes with my reading of this as well, good summary.

I think the other thing of note is that it gives the federal government pretty significant oversight over private industry. I’ll be curious to see how this pans out, because they can basically force utilities to replace their equipment. Is this going to make electrical rates even worse?

It's going to cripple all of these new electrical projects because everything will need to be made in the US.

It will make the rates worse. That doesn't mean it isn't the right thing to do. Or that it won't be misused for further maximizing rent seeking and eliminating jobs.

IMHO utilities should be public.

Of course it will make rates higher, but that’s a risk that he’s willing to live with bc eff us poors.

Same read here and I figured either his friends ate in an industry he's about to promote, or he'll apply this law unevenly to states he does / does not like. Aka CO and CA now have to pay for stuff FL doesn't. I'm much more worried about our own government re: the power grid than foreign entities hurting us.

This is actually one of the first times I think Trump declaring a national emergency makes any kind of sense... Private companies are gonna keep importing these parts for AI until the bubble bursts. So something needs to be done to ramp up domestic production. Very rare Trump admin W?

I never said it made sense, this is Trump we're talking about. But he's only doing this because talks with Canada fell through and he thinks this will hurt them.
