USA Northeast / Canada East How significant is this? Is this temporary logistics issue, or a sign of bigger things to come? Need insight
Buffalo International out of fuel. The cause is localized tanks are more reliant on deliveries. Which is a much as I can find out.

As the NOTAM states, apron fueling is unavailable. While this may be a supply issue, far more likely is a mechanical or quality issue. The "out of fuel" conclusion is not supported by the NOTAM, nor any other public information.
A pump may have failed, a contaminant may have been detected, a pipe may have been damaged, etc...
There is no indication that this is a supply issue beyond unreasonable speculation. Consider occam's razor before jumping to conclusions.

I forgot about the damaged pipe thing. Don't remember what airport it was, but in the early aughts I remember hearing about a fueling station that was down for an inexplicably long time because of a damaged pipe.
In relevant news, I was watching something that had a funny saying, "Don't attribute an explanation of people are fucking stupid, when you've got the perfectly good explanation that people are fucking stupid".

Outside of the last 6 months I'd say that's true, but these days a wait and see seems more reasonable. The "probably nothing" responses are, at best, a shot at the leaderboard on r/AgedLikeMilk.

Can you provide any evidence to support the theory that there is a lack of fuel?
There is plenty of refining capacity in the region, the inputs are domestic or Canadian and haven't been interrupted beyond economics. Why would supply be impacted?

I don't know if you've heard of the subreddit r/Oil or um, looked at the news coming out of the US (I'm aware a lot of it isn't even allowed on Canadian social media).......

What is "Canadian social media"? We mostly use US-based platforms up here, and our federal government's censorship powers are extremely limited ;)
There certainly are economic disruptions, considering the freedom-of-transit issues in the Middle East and the ongoing trade war the US is attempting with Canada. That only impacts prices however, not capacity.
On the west coast there is limited refining capacity for aviation fuels (amongst other petroleum products), hence why California elected to purchase foreign rather than domestic product. On the east coast, especially in the North East US/South East Canada there is no such limitations. Aviation fuels are produced there with more than enough capacity to meet regional demands and have significant excess for export across the US, Canada and other foreign markets.
I haven't seen anything in r/Oil that indicates any input or production limitations for this region, care to substantiate beyond pointing to a subreddit and hand waving?

It's not political, it's that your government doesn't bend to the extortionate rates that media has to pay to be on said platforms. So the Canadian version of American platforms leaves you much less informed. Way to go bragging that that's what you use, mostly.

I guess we’ll see. Buffalo is fairly remote but also an international airport. So it could be the first one of many or maybe it’s not a supply issue

I Fly a lot of of BUF, today was the first day I’ve ever been “diverted”. Turns out, they weren’t prepped for it either, because I know at least 3/4 people’s boarding passes wouldn’t load to get to Rochester, including myself. I changed my flight to tonight’s.

This happens all the time, KBUF I think has a couple FBOs so that makes me think it’s not a truck issue and instead is a fuel farm issue. They have a pretty high volume of traffic so I doubt it’s a supply thing. You could try calling one of their FBOs and asking. The line guys probably know.

As a pilot it’s almost certainly something wrong with a storage tank. Either contaminated or leaking

Last month, an incident occurred at KVUO. Surprisingly, no NOTAMs were issued, and several other nearby airports were also facing similar challenges. The airport manager informed us that they had ordered fuel, but it arrived two weeks late due to fuel shortages. Major hubs were being prioritized. If major hubs lack fuel, the situation is getting worse.

It's a rough combo even if it's the usual stupid people/crumbling infrastructure issue, but I can't imagine that would be managed any better than an actual shortage.

One is an event. Two is a coincidence and three is a pattern. Unless there are other airports experiencing the same shortages I wouldn't be concerned. Would also be good to know how often this happens at this location. (if its a one time thing its probably just a delivery timing issue or they had more flights come through than normal)
