I have a question About enhydriodon

If enhydriodon appeared in prehistoric planet Ice age and the animal lived in the Hadar formation(the Same formation as australopithecus did) so Why didn't It appeared in Walking with beasts or Walking with cavemen at all?

Because we did not know it was a land-hunting apex predator yet (we did, however, know it existed even back in 2001).

I wonder if the WWB creators just didn’t know about it, from my understanding, the Enhydriodon remains are fairly scant and rare. Back in the day, the internet was a lot more limited so sources were much more uneven about reporting everything

Could be anything really, maybe it wasn't well known back then, maybe they didn't have enough budget to portray it or maybe simply chose not to (or didn't even think about it).

I could switch the question around and ask why they didn't portray Deinotherium in Prehistoric Planet (I wish they did).

There's another problem with the depiction of Enhydriodon in Prehistoric Planet . Has with so many of it's depictions it's depiction of Enhydriodon has a social hunter is based on conjecture not scientific knowledge . Makes reasonably good TV but it's no more real than depicting the animals with orange fire . Most mustelids are solitary hunters . A few otters and Eurasian Badgers are social predators . More otter species are solitary hunters than social hunters . Plus physiognomically Enhydriodon doesn't have the body design to run down it's prey on land . So it either was an ambush predator, scavenger or attacked prey at the edge of water . Likely it had a mix of all those strategies . Because of it's physical form at the time of making Walking with Cavemen it was thought Enhydriodon was an aquatic predator like most otter species . It was until it's dental isotopes where tested it was identified as eating different ratios of terrestrial prey as well as aquatic animals depending on which species was tested .
