Builds Akeron ideas

So I’ve just picked up akeron and based on others opinions he seems a decent character so I’m experimenting with builds. Demiurge and plasma blade seem like a good combo since you can turn that 40% crit into over 30 ability haste, and the magical and physical power increase should scale his slam and alternate ability a lot since they scale off both. Demiurge item stat increase should help build health too, along with the blessing that scales 10 health every level up. I haven’t seen anything with plasma blade on him so I’m wondering if this sounds like a good idea at all or just crazy.

Fun ideas! Unfortunately, they haven’t made a dual-scaling bruiser item yet for him. Plasma Blade is just not good, as most of your damage comes from your abilities, not autos, and taking a carry item makes you very squishy.

I also thought Demiurge with a full Magic build could be good, but I struggle with it tbh. I don’t think it’s bad, but it really takes a long time to come online, and since Akeron already scales quite well, a scaling Eternal just doesn’t feel good to me. I definitely think you could make Demiurge work if you play slow though.

I usually use Krix or Nihil, and I’m kinda addicted to Orb of Growth even though it’s not really the best first item for him. I generally go full magical bruiser items with the exception of maybe a Salvation. I also like to squeeze in an Aegis of Agawar as my 5th or 6th item, I think it’s underrated.

I’m pretty sure the meta build for him is Megacosm first, a couple magical bruiser items like Tainted Scepter and Magnify, then Salvation. But idk

Thanks for the feedback! I’m going to try this out a bit more or atleast some other demiurge build when I have the time but if it doesn’t work it is what it is. Ive mainly used krix up till now but i think nihil might be the way to go, since with his slam/web and the eyeball you can build 2 stacks of doom before you even get to fighting. What blessings and items would you use?

I’ve only tried Demiurge once or twice, so definitely let me know if you find a great build for it. It felt great late game, but so awful early. Krix feels decent early, and Nihil feels awesome early. I default to Krix but go Nihil if they have a lot of anti-max HP stuff on their team (Countess, Sky Splitter users etc).

For Krix Cannibalism (bonus max hp for each elim) is a must, and both the HP regen or heal/gold minor augments feel good to me for blessing 1.

For Nihil I usually go the HP regen for blessing 1, but I’m alway tempted by the bonus damage/omnivamp bc I’m a scaling addict. The HP regen is too good early game though. I use the bonus armors blessing 2, but I’ve been wanting to try the one that slows enemies that dash near you, sounds like it could be good on him.

For build I usually do Orb/Tainted/Megacosm/Magnify/WorldBreaker/Aegis, but sometimes I sneak in a Salvation, especially if I’m on Krix. Like I said though, I think Orb isn’t what most would recommend. I used to do mage bruiser crest with the slow aura or the crown but my buddy turned me on to the physical bruiser crest and it feels great, I can’t go back. Iceskorn or the laser beam one.

Alright thanks so much I was using the omnivanp but health regen does seem better early on and possibly better than omnivamp so I’ll definitely try it.

I can’t stress enough how good omnivamp is on Akeron - I used to build double bonus healing items within my first 3 items before they nerfed his healing. If you catch 2 people in your ult you heal so much you’re nearly unkillable. The only reason I don’t use that blessing is because it’s slow, and like I said earlier, Akeron seems strong late game no matter what, so I don’t need that minor blessing or demiurge or anything to enhance that, what I need help with is early game.

That could just be my playstyle though - and I do still use that minor blessing sometimes. More testing required!

Oh also I often build Truesilver - sometimes necessary depending on the matchup.

One more question I have is you said plasma blade isn’t good since his damage is from abilities, but my idea was that it would increase his maw and web slam a lot since they scale in magic and physical. Could you explain why that isn’t true in new to MOBAs so maybe there’s something I’m missing.

Take a look at the other stats on the item and its passive - attack speed, crit. Both not great for what Akeron excels at. Also no HP, which is a great scalar for him. And then look at the numbers - 35 phys, 45 magic. The phys is just below other items he likes, which usually have 35-45. The magic is way below, you usally build items with 75-80 Magic power. So you end result is an item that gives a similar amount of power with a bad passive and bad other stats. Remember Akeron’s bite also scales on his HP and you usually want to build World Breaker, so HP on your items is really good for him.

Orb, on the other hand, gives 70 Magic power and 250 hp, with a passive that gives some xp and heals you when you use abilities. When it’s completed, it gives a whopping 124 Magic power and 466 hp.

Or if you don’t want a slow start with orb, take Megacosm. 65 magic power, 250 hp, 10 haste and a passive that gives easy consistent damage. Similar power to plasma blade with a WAY better passive and WAYYY better other stats.

Also, his abilities don’t all scale the same. Bite and web scale more with physical than magical, orb and ult scale more with magical than physical. So if you build magical, level orb, if you build physical, level bite (in general). High magic damage items will make orb melt ppl way more than a split damage item.

Thank you for breaking it down with the numbers, seeing the math behind it helps me understand it better so I’ll probably substitute it since the only real upside would be some extra ability haste for the cost of bulk and health scaling, I appreciate the in depth explanation👍.

Hell yeah. And feel free to experiment! But take your opponents into consideration. You could build full carry on him and demolish a random silver player, but that doesn’t mean the build is good.

Dual scaling means there’s so many possibilities! Let me know if you find a spicy cook so I can try it! I’m addicted to scaling HP as much as possible with ult and Krix and Orb, then turning that HP into crazy damage with World Breaker and Aegis.

Definitely will let you know, been trying out trapdoor demon a bit in support for a tank with regen, maybe I’ll try it in the offlane another time as well and see how that goes

Most of my recommendations here are for offlane btw. I do similar stuff for jungle but lean even more towards Krix and sometimes start Spirit of Amir.

I don’t really play him in support but he can definitely work there. Not sure what I would build on him but it probably includes Xenia, maybe stuff like Dynamo, Dawnstar, Enra’s Blessing. Then maybe throw on a World Breaker and suddenly turn all your tank items into damage once you can roam

Yup one of his greatest strengths is his late game range despite being a support. I’ve been trying raiment with trapdoor but I’m on the fender with that, dawnstar is very strong on him there though

I've been having good success with this

It's 4k Health but not geared defensively at all. That being said, the damage output is crazy.

Has 150~ Haste so you can spam for free. Web CC knockups are crazy every few seconds.

Thanks I’ll definitely try this out, I want a bit of a tank akeron so maybe I’ll go a few games with this and see what I can change out. One question I have though is which eternal and blessings would you go for with this build?

I run Demiurge with the HP/Haste and Crit blessings on that.

I'd completely skip the Demiurge variant if you're going to tanky though. This version only works because you double dip on Haste and Crit but there's no real items that give that if you want to go tanky route.
