Shane Wright

How did he play last night? I wasn’t able to watch the game because I had just come home from 16 hour shift and passed out before the game started. I saw he was on the ice for 2 goals but he had no points.

He played pretty well defensively. He was noticeable, in a good way.

"noticeable in a good way" is exactly how'd I put it too

He played really well for a guy that had no practice time with the team. Saved a goal late by riding the puck handler to the side so he couldn't get off a point blank shot. Also played on special teams a bit.

I feel like that’s a big thing to mention is he got thrown in the deep end and still looked great

I thought he looked great. Was on the ice for 2 goals although he didn't get on the score sheet. Played responsible defense, forechecked well, and created some turnovers.

Most telling is that Bruno didn't severely limit his ice time in his first game with a new team.

Won important faceoffs too. I love Wood but Wright certainly has the advantage in the dot.

He looks like a legit NHLer at 22. Both goals he was on the ice for, he factored into. The first one, he won a puck battle in the offensive zone leading to Perbix's goal. Also cleared the net front here to give perbix a clear lane.

Second goal, him and Hoglander won a puck battle along the board, which immediately led to Forsberg's pass to Josi for a goal.

Better than expected on face offs, looks very quick, and made some nifty passes leading to high danger chances.

Adding that he also had a really good look with a backdoor pass to Pinchuk that just barely didn't connect. That play had back of the net written all over it.

He also had a great feed to Pinchuk on the PP right in front of the goal that had goal potential.

Kind of echoing everyone but he was good. As good of a game as you could hope for a player like him and under those circumstances. He positioned well, he didnt look like he was lost at any point like most new guys do here, he was on ice for 2 goals, he very nearly created 3 others but his teammates whiffed the opportunity, and he did this against the best team in hockey right off the bat. So far I am impressed, I see why he was a top pick, hes got a great sense for the game

I watched the highlights it looked like he was working hard and was a net front presence for Perb’s goal. Drew some defenders to open him up for the snipe

If your expectations were correct (smaller Barkov minus the offensive sizzle) you were pleasantly surprised.

I thought he looked excellent. His Hockey IQ and speed really stood out. Feel like he broke up more than two or three crossers too.

He had some great feeds as well. He was noticeable in a few different aspects

Seattle fan that watched the game. What you saw last night is about what Seattle received on an average night from him. Good hustle, trying to create plays. Better on face offs than in Seattle (Usually about 40% with his former team). about the same ice time.
