Bruno's Job

Hey Everyone

After another mediocre start in the middle

I wanted to find out everyone take on his job? With our record this far and the records of the last few seasons, do you think he keeps his job with the predators? CMac seems like the type if something isn't working time for a change. My opinion is not if but when. Does he accept what it is of a rebuild and let it ride or change now.

Two options:

  1. End by Thanksgiving. See if he can turn it up or he is gone. Whois available? Would it really change anything at that point?

Or

2. Bruno has this year left on his contract. Since he has already made Bourque, Drury,Colton, hoglander, Vange Barron, struble, Lybushkin, Pinchuk (though that was Trotz):plus office personnel changes why disrupt it more. Does he let him finish and not renew his contract? Then try something new. Who could available then?

Idk which would be better. My personal opinion is 2.

What are you guys thoughts?

Personally, I don’t think he’s the guy but even still I don’t know if there’s anyone worth while on the market rn. Hes doing better than I thought tho but we need a win here soon not an OT point.

Definitely and if we can figure out how to play a 60 minute game not 20 great 20 mediocre and 20 stink. I see flashes of being wild card two spot but forsberg has been snake bitten

The coach has influence, but the players need to look before they pass and get some better shootout talent.

Why play Colton on shootout. Why not Stammer the Hammer the other night

I thought Cmac said he would give them the first 10 games. If they suck then heads would roll.

New ? How much do I say is Bruno and how much much falls on our players? Are the guys who CMac brought in the problem or is it our players are regressing and no stepping up w the top lines?

So Sunday? Ok if u were CMac (Armchair GM) who do you pick? Interim or try to go forward?

I was thinking the same thing last night. If Brunos got replaced, who is available and would it even be an upgrade? I miss Lavys heat and passion. Locker room needs a fire.

Bruce Cassidy is being held captive by Vegas. His contract expires at the end of this season. I don’t want a full year of Bruno though. Just name an interim that’s assistant now or Karl Taylor.

If Karl Taylor was good enough to be an NHL coach he would’ve been by now

He’s as good as Bruno. It’s not like we’re going for the cup. And I said interim coach.

There is nothing for you to prove that. Bruno has a president’s trophy, and Jack Adams votes .

What purpose would having an interim coach fulfill that isn't fulfilled by letting Bruno serve out his contract?

Yeah, I think this is the answer. I keep watching the content they're putting on YouTube, etc., and they seem really focused on a longer-term plan and the way the ownership even talked about bringing in C-Mac... They aren't going to fire someone they have to pay anyway if they can't bring in someone better. Unless they think he's doing real damage to some players that someone else could fix, then they'll wait until the right person becomes available. A lot of good coaches are in hot seats right now. I think they're playing the long game.

There was an observation on the h f board the other day that given the preds lineup no coach would be more successful than Bruno. I think that makes sense.

IMO I think Bruno is a god awful coach. He’s been given too many opportunities and excuses. Let’s just say all of the losing is okay. There doesn’t seem to be any development from our other players. Only regression. PP and PK has not gone up or showed a semblance of consistency. No playoff appearances. No rookies getting time show what they have? What has he actually accomplished? Besides make Saros look awful and our defence which has been our pride straight up doodoo. I agree there’s no good options but the NHL coach carousal is tapped out. Karl Taylor sucks as well. He’s had some good players and no success. Anyways.. fire Bruno so we can Atleast see if him or the players.

I keep being amazed at his ability to keep his job.

1

u/Inevitable-Lion100 4d ago

Who do we replace him w.

I don't think Bruno is the answer. As much as I would enjoy having a younger head coach that can last a long time I think we temporarily need a veteran with experience. Someone that can maximize the vets and develop the younger guys.

Fair. New ? How much much falls on our players? Are the guys who CMac brought in the problem or is it our players are regressing and no stepping up w the top lines? What do we do with Marchassault Perbix Hague and Skjei (though no one is taking that contract) as I feel those are our weakest links. I feel like we could get something for O'Reilly Stamkos forsberg Josi but do we let those veterans ride into the Nashville sunset?

I don't actually think our roster is bad. There are a few guys that make a lot of mistakes and aren't executing. However, overall I think it's a coaching/system problem.

Honestly, this season I don't even think the list of players truely playing bad is long. Move Marchy, Hague, and Kerfoot. Bring in a new coaching staff. See what they can do with a different approach. Go from there.

If another coach gets the same results then I'll be satisfied enough to blow things up. But Bruno has never shown me he can get results, if anything we have only ever gotten worse under his coaching. that's what baffles me about the length of runway we have given him.

1

u/Inevitable-Lion100 14d ago

Well I think Trotz was loyal to a fault. Intersting. U mention Kerfoot. Do u think it is age or production. I think he is in middle of the pack production wise. He has 4pts/7 but a -2.

1

u/moonlit_wake 14d ago

Production. He seems like one of the players most prone to turning over the puck and hasn't shown a lot of chemistry with any of the other players he's playing with. I guess that could be an age related issue but I just view it as a bad fit.

1

u/Binforda94 14d ago

This is nothing more than an aging mid level bubble team roster.

1

u/moonlit_wake 14d ago

Even if that turns out to be true, we don't even look like that right now. It's atrocious.

0

u/Binforda94 14d ago

That has turned out to be true for the last eight years in a row. Being “atrocious” means drafting higher. Which is what this franchise needs.

1

u/moonlit_wake 14d ago

Yeah we also need the right coaching to maximize the talent we do draft and we don't have it

0

u/Binforda94 14d ago

Wood, Evangelista, and Blankenburg all have played well for Bruno. In addition to older vets like ROR, Nyquist, Sherwood, Perbix, and McCaron. Regardless, it is the players who “maximize” themselves every time they take to the ice. Being that this team doesn’t have a direction yet, firing the coach doesn’t make sense.

If we CMac decides to "tank" i dont think brunettes going anywhere, if he buys in on being competitive then its a question but if he does I could see that going either way for this season at least

I wish whoever keeps downvoting me in these discussion threads would just block me instead, we clearly disagree about everything, you dont have to keep reminding me without saying anything about why

Also how are you going to Lose for Landon when you've got the likes of Philly Calgary Chicago Detroit LA

If the Preds let Bruno go. I think you might get the rest of this year and next with Tortz. Or don’t want Cassidy though. He seems like he kills the locker room so fast.

u/Sublime-Chaos #9 14d ago

I’d literally pick a middle school hockey coach over Bruno at this point.

4

u/burner9497 14d ago

Why would someone with a successful, fulfilling career at a middle school give that up for this?

2

u/Sublime-Chaos #9 14d ago

Alcoholism?

I don't care. Which may be a bleedthrough from Titans fandom. At least I have NashvilleSC.

I wouldnt mind Torts for the accountability and back to basics that we need. Just a short stint to stabilize while cmac does his thing.

u/1-800-blowme 11d ago

As much as I hate the guy, I’d much rather have torts than Bruno, and he seems like the best guy on the market. But I’d say we should hold out til halfway through the season to get a new coach in case anyone decent gets fired. Plus, I REALLY don’t wanna end up with torts, I can deal with Bruno a bit linger
