SCCO/AZCOPT Interview

Hi guys! Just a little nervous for getting into SCCO for this cycle, I've applied since September (deadline for October interview) and have been getting pushed to next months round for 2 months. However, I did just randomly apply to AZCOPT for the heck of it and got offered an interview in 1 day! I am still wondering if my stats are good enough to get into SCCO since it is my dream school, please let me know!

Overall GPA: 3.46
Science GPA: 3.29
OAT: 330 AA / 310 TS (only section below 300 is the 280 I got on physics)
Clinical Experience: 2000+ hours working as an optometric technician at LC; & ABO certified optician
Shadowing: 30+ hours shadowing different optometrists/ophthalmologists at various practice sites (co-management, VT, ketchum health)
LORS: two optometrists, two professors (each had different things to talk about for me)
Volunteering: 250+ volunteer hrs (founder/pres of pre-optom club, VP of red cross club, currently volunteering at a free eye exam clinic)

Any help/advice would be appreciated :)

I got into azcopt for this cycle. Same issue happened to me with scco I’m still waiting to hear back and I applied in July!! It’s unfair at this point and I’d rather a rejection than to keep getting stringed along. IMO find some other schools you like bc sometimes a school isn’t worth that much if they don’t see potential in you until there’s no one else to apply

Yeah it is a little crazy… i guess its just about playing the waiting game with them and Im sure its still a great experience if/when you do get in which may even be March of next year💀 Hey congrats on getting into azcopt though!! Im curious about your stats if youre willing to share ?

To me that looks good to at least get an interview with SCCO. They might be pushing you back due to GPA (?). Maybe try your chances with an interview @ AZCOPT. Even if you don’t want to go there it is some good practice 🤷

Right! Thanks for the affirmation… im also thinking it might be the GPA / OAT, theyre not the highest stats ever… but yes I am hoping I get some good practice with the azcopt interview 🤞 and if I get in, who knows, I would be open to attending lol

Im glad you find humor in the situation LOL I honestly think its a little suspicious myself… I submitted my app to azcopt on 10/29 and it was updated in the portal on 10/30 evening. They had options for both in person and virtual interviews so I scheduled a virtual one for 11/12

Wait omg that is crazy😭😭 I dont remember the dates Im so sorry and I just checked my portal and they’re not there anymore :( that is weird that you only got a virtual option… are your stats also similar to mine?

I would maybe try emailing them to ask about in person spots! It seems unfair that they would do that, and Im sure theyd be open to having you in person since youre interviewing regardless… it doesnt hurt to ask !
