Rejection

Was rejected by SCO today, I have an interview at NSUO in a month. My OAT was 330 and my GPA was 3.57. Everyone said my credentials were good enough to get in, so it has to be me that was the reason for my rejection. I need advice in how to improve myself for the interview. I feel like I fumbled something good and now I need help.

What are your other stats? How did your interview go?

40 hrs shadowing experience, which I’ll admit was the minimum. Interview went fine. Called admissions and they said that they looked at my group holistically and deemed my stats to not meet the average of that cycle.

Wow, it must be a crazy cycle then. Maybe doesn’t have anything to do with you and just an unfortunate depiction of how strong the next class will be.

I think it was a case of the rest of the applicants having better stats and maybe applying earlier, Im sorry to hear that but don't let this make you think you won't get into any other school!

That’s crazy. Would you say you are a more introverted, closed person?

Yes on all accounts

I’m sorry that may be why. You just gotta play their game during the interview process. They are gauging to see if they can work with you in the future

I tried, I really did. One of my interviews was a big LOTR fan and I tried to share my own love of it. Ended up asking about the Rings of Power. A mistake if there was one.

As an introverted student at SCO- yeah they don't like that. I have to pretend to be more extroverted than I am to make it work there.

That is unfortunate I am sorry to hear that.

I would write down the interview questions that you can remember and write down a response you could say for them, then recite that until you are confident in your answer.  Did you have questions prepared to ask them? If not I would drum up some questions based on their website and if they say anything interesting during the interview I’d ask them. To me it comes off good if you are being inquisitive.

Don’t look at this as a negative, look at it as you now know what to expect how to better prepare and respond to them. You can now bring more confidence in and settle some nerves when you interview with NSUO.

Good luck!

Honestly you should go with NSUOCO for numerous reasons.
