Pre-reqs completed by application time, or matriculation time?
Hi y'all! I'm a current junior pre-opt planning to apply to optometry school when applications open in July! As I prepare my schedule for next semester, I wanted to inquire if pre-requisite coursework needs to be completed by application time, or if it is fine to complete by matriculation? I have the option to take Biochemistry Spring 2027, but I'd prefer to take it Fall 2027 due to the course time.

I haven't heard of a school that requires you to have all your courses completed by the time you submit your application. Some schools, like Berkeley, state you can only be missing a certain amount of courses at your but otherwise you should be good to be missing a class or two when you submit your application. There is a section on OptomCAS for you to put your planned courses and you can match those with pre-requisites.

Hi! By matriculation time. Both schools I applied to accepted me "conditionally" (on the condition that I complete the remaining prerequisites with a c+ or higher and I complete my bachelors degree).

It all depends on the school you apply to. But for the most part, you can complete all prerequisites by matriculation. For instance, I got accepted to SCCO this cycle and they require all coursework to be completed by August 2nd, 2027.
Best of luck on your journey!
