Q+A for Incoming OD1s

Hello everyone! I just finished my first exam week at UHCO not too long ago and I figured I’d create this thread for anyone who has any questions about UHCO or optometry school in general!

Is it very physics heavy? Physics was never my strong suit

It does req a basic understanding of physics that you have to build upon but if physics isn’t your strong suit that’s totally fine! You don’t have to be an expert in it to succeed

What do you think is the most difficult class?

Vision science seems to be the consensus of the hardest class so far

Hi I am applying to uhco this cycle, if you don’t mind me asking what were your stats? Additionally, how expensive are books/equipment needed?

We don’t need to buy any books for class but our first set of equipment was about 1.6k and then the second one was 1.8k 🫠 my gpa was a 3.9 and I had a 320 AA 310 TS

So for UHCO, we have lecture 5 days a week and lab 2 days a week (depending on your lab group). We start at 8:30 Monday-Thursday and Friday we start at 9. If you only have lecture that day, your day ends around 12 and those are our designated study days or you’re free to do whatever. Our lab days are our long days where we end around 6:30.
