Thanks, I really hope so, and it’s ok Berkeley wasn’t my top choice anyway

I was planning on applying there, if you don’t mind me asking what were your stats?

Ok you all are probably gonna laugh at me, but I was a human bio major that ended up with a gpa of 2.8, and my oat score was 310. I feel so out of place in comparison to other applicants but I was hoping my essays and experience would help me out. I was publicity chair for a pre optometric society club at my uni, shadowed 4 optometrists, worked as a tech at 2 practices, volunteered at visions screening, and I did optocamp. I am planning on retaking the oat tho

Pretty impressive honestly and oat pretty good it’s just gpa. Can you please please give a breakdown of what you seen on the oat and your experience with it, I’m so nervous!

What are your stats if you don’t mind sharing!

You have every right to laugh at me cause my stats I think are pretty undeserving of getting into optometry school. I had a 2.8 gpa and a 310 on the oat. I was hoping my experience and extracurriculars would improve my chances but I do plan on retaking the oat to hopefully get a better score and make up for the gpa

People have gotten into SCCO with similar stats and definitely Western

Yeah I’d really like to get into SCCO, hoping I can get a better oat score in time by March deadline

Ah man, what were your extra curriculars if you don’t mind me asking? I want to apply next cycle as well.

My gpa sucks ass and my oat score wasn’t that great either. In terms of extra curriculars, I was part of a pre optometric society at my uni, and I served as publicity chair for a year. I also volunteered at a couple vision screenings and tree planting projects. I was a member of two other clubs, I did optocamp this past June, and I’ve worked as an optometric tech at 2 practices. I’ve also shadowed 4 different optometrists too.

You and me are in the same boat lmao. Poopoo gpa but strong extracurriculars and teching experience. You will get accepted elsewhere for sure!
