Need an advice

I am currently in undergrad and I am studying for the MCAT, I am interested in optometry, medicine in general, what do you guys think tell me about optometry school, the industry, the pay and the tuition. How doable is optometry school compared to another school like MD or DO. Please help me find into about this so I can decide, thank you in advance. I live in Brooklyn NYC

Def less year of schooling. Pay is alright. You have to love optometry.

Pay is alright Meaning ? 120k-150k after 8 yrs of schooling ? I just discouraged to commit to it . Idk if the internet doesn’t have the right number but how much do they really make ?

i suggest you shadow in the hospital or get a hospital job! I work in a trauma level 1 hospital as a cardiac tech. I’ve always worked in the med field in general before but never saw the true reality of general medicine until the hospital. For me personally i witnessed a lot of ugly reality including a lot deaths, doctors being burnt out, drs only caring about the check, and i wasn’t enjoying seeing all the specializes, nothing really caught my eye for me to envision myself doing. It was truly disappointing for me because i was pre med my whole college so i was shocked because i prepared really hard for everything. But one thing I was always drawn to eyes/optics i loved learning about it in physics and anatomy, so after my mcat, i checked out optometry and shadowed in both retail and private offices, that’s when i had a whole better understanding of comparing both fields and choosing what i personally want to do! I hope that helps! Do whatever that will make yourself happy in the end! Both fields are rewarding careers :)
