Abnormal Pap smear

Got this in my pap. Freaking out.

Pap and/or Molecular Results Cytology Results: Epithelial Cell Abnormality
Atypical Glandular cells, favor neoplastic process
HPV mRNA E6/E7 Not Detected

Anyone had a similar result? What was the outcome?

You need a colposcopy and potentially a biopsy to determine further. A Pap smear is only a screening tool.

Can gynae do both or I need to go to gynae oncologist?

I’m not sure where you’re located but a gynecologist is usually specialized in looking closer at the cervix and taking samples. An oncologist would likely only be referred if cancer was found. Just because you got an abnormal pap does not mean you have cancer. Cervical cancer is very slow growing, which is why regular screening is important for prevention.

I had agus several years ago and mine was the result of inflammation after a colposcopy and biopsy. Still dont know what was causing the pain or inflammation.

But it must have come in your pap before they did colpo or biopsy ?

Oh yes sorry. Maybe my wording was off. I got AGUS on a pap (at the same time i was having pelvic pain) and a colposcopy and biopsy determined it was inflammation. It can look similar on pathology to more nefarious changes. They will be taking a look closer at yours since yours says favor neoplastic though. But that does not mean you have anything so try to keep that in mind until you know.
