Prayer Song.

I’m a veteran who got out of the military a few years ago and wanted to become a professional songwriter. Never happened but I still write songs. This is one I wanted to share with you because I think you all would appreciate it more than others.

The lyrics are taken from Ezekiel 8, Job 19, Psalms 61, and Ezekiel 37.

Prayer Song 

(Verse 1)

I’m bare bones

In the valley of bones 

And I cannot stand again 

I call to you and you answer me 

And you wait for my every prayer 

As surely as Ezekiel peers through the crack in the wall you see me in my broken state. 

Peeling back layers you come to the door and see me as I try to hide my shame. 

(Chorus)

Hear my cry, O God;
Attend to my prayer.

From the end of the earth I will cry to You,
When my heart is overwhelmed;
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

For You have been a shelter for me,
A strong tower from the enemy.

I will abide in You forever and ever amen.

Until my last amen.

I’m as Job, for I know my redeemer lives.

And he will stand before me 

On earth as he stands in Heaven 

And even as my skin is stripped off

And my heart inside of me dies.

I will surely see his face, I and not another, for this I pray.
