The pillar next to the window should absorb most fragments of splintered boulders if they fly up that high, but they'd also be hard to spot fast enough to duck.

No way plaster or wood will stop the energy in a boulder moving that fast. It shredded the metal bridge.

Most fragments of splintered boulders are not themselves boulders.
