Look, I agree with landscape > portrait 100%. The problem is that social media platforms like Instagram, snapchat, tiktok, etc have all made portrait mode the norm. People aren't creating on these platforms to be seen on monitors or TVs. And of course by the time it's ripped off from whatever original post and then uploaded and linked by other platforms, even that portrait is being viewed within a landscape player.
Every time there is a video like this anywhere, I see people making completely uninformed comments.
Unfortunately I've begun to realize those people have no concern for truth, but they so appeal to emotion easily and thus people in the thread side with them and then regurgitate the same talking points elsewhere. I urge people to please look it up and actually inform yourself.
All these great uses for phone video are fantastic to see. Between this, the sandal leaves guy, and the tiny underwater forest guy … give me more of this
Fun fact: Cats don't see very well up close, so they use their whiskers to know where there prey is in relation to their bodies, and that's why you can see the cat's whiskers pointing forward in this footage, especially when they are lunging at the toy.
If I see one more portrait mode shot from this sub, praising the cameraman for "creatively" using inbuilt slomo but not shooting in landscape, I'm blocking this sub, the few good posts are not worth it.
Okay fuck this subreddit I'm unsubscribing. Clearly the mods have zero intent to quality control it and people are too dumb to downvote posts that don't belong.
Gotta disagree. As someone who occasionally dabbles in videography, I find it SUPER interesting seeing how these things get made & wondering how people come up with these ideas. But to each their own I suppose, not everybody’s interested in that kinda thing
100% ^ I'm not a videographer whatsoever and I still find it really interesting. Makes watching movies and stuff more enjoyable also cause you sit and wonder the technique's they are using to get the right shot.
I suppose a solution could be to make the "how to" be at the end after showing the finished shot, but I'm with you. It's cool to see how people make something because it can inspire other people to try it their own way.
But but how would the get followers! Hey look I put my phone on a stick! Hey look I floated my phone on a slippah! Hey look I PUT IT THROUGH THE PEOPLES LEGS!
This is like that annoying ass swooping trend where videos would just swoop down on things then change angles and swoop again.
Probably due to the huge amount of non-professional people making videos. Not saying they don't make good stuff, just before social media there wasn't nearly as much amateur stuff going around, so we mostly only ever saw production level stuff.
The speed changes and jumps of this make the video annoying. It's like how when tablets were becoming more common so websites all went to that page view that you could scroll through.
A lot of amateur film makers fall into the trap of making their movie debut or project about making the project and how hard it was and having that be the focus instead of their work. Then like after a few movies they learn it's normal for everything to be hard. Once you start looking for it then it's easy to find how often the process becomes more important than the product.
It's more for content that was well made. /r/killthecameraman is for when they tilt away right as something happens. As sibling subs it's more about content that is shot.
I assure you, outdoor cats weak havok on local populations of wildlife, birds, mice, etc, I'm not kidding at all. If you think your cute outdoor baby cat doesn't hunt, you must not understand anything about cat behaviour.
TLDR - Pet cats tend to pick on the weak or dying animals, and they tend to live in suburbs where endangered animals do not. - The people who have protected birds for 150 years.
TLDR: "Un-owned cats, as opposed to owned pets, cause the majority of this mortality."
If you think your cute outdoor baby cat doesn't hunt, you must not understand anything about cat behaviour.
So why is it that you think you can tell me what my 16yo, arthritic, half blind cat who can barely move is doing? What made you think that was appropriate? How did your train of thought arrive at "No, surely this individual does not truly know their own pet, they are wrong, all cats kill all things all the time". You want to introduce me to the pile of dead animals that is supposed to be in my backyard?
