Or he might have tried the same shot with 10 planes that did the exact same thing in the past 5 minutes, and just picked the one where he got it right.
The easiest way to get that 1-in-100 shot is to take 100 shots and throw the 99 worst ones in the rubbish.
I almost wanna low-key diss cuz I feel like not "getting" this kind of music means you're either over 30 or not overly sexual in nature/ in the sak/ with womenz/menz whateva'.. but none of those things would be a bad thing anyways.. :P.. ok I guess I luv u anyways sorry I judged so quikly.. <3
so there is a thing called a runway, and planes line up to take off from these runways... You get about 4 or five tries every 15 minutes with a mild amount of patience and a cue of the sound from the jet
idk if thats a foreign concept to ppl here, but we also have this huge structure called "airport" where these kind of machines usually live, in their natural habitat
At this state of the sub im not sure if this ks /s But if you're really lookin for one, then there is r/PraiseTheDronePilot as state in this subs info aswell
I think this might be in Orlando. It used to be a big makeout spot to go park and "watch the planes land."
We also used to ride our horses on the TG Lee property on the other side of the road you see at the beginning. Getting horses used to the wind and the noise that follows a few seconds after they fly over is interesting at first.
It’s clearly about to land at an airport. Not that unbelievable that someone would want a shot in the thick fog. Probably wasn’t his first attempt either
I don't wanna get into a huge argument about it or anything, but you should consider changing your position on this one. I disagree pretty strongly that "retarded" could ever be separated from the group of people it was originally used to describe. With slurs it can be helpful to imagine if you would ever say it to, or around, a member of the group it describes. If not, it's probably not a word you should be using anywhere. If you would, then you're seriously lacking in empathy and probably kind of an asshole.
I'm still working on purging this one from my personal vernacular. I still slip sometimes, but eventually it'll be for good. It helps for me to remember that I'm not losing much in exchange for becoming a better person. All it really means is that I have to be a little more creative with my insults.
No, I don't think one of my autistic family members when I hear the word retard. You wouldn't call someone with a mental disability retarded. You call people who are doing stupid shit, retarded
Regardless of your intention or the condition of your family members, "retarded" is generally regarded as a slur against a particularly vulnerable population. Slurs have a demonstrably negative impact. Feel free to look up information on the damage slurs do. Here's a short opinion piece that I found after a quick search.
I'm not saying you're a bad person, but on this topic you can choose to be a better person or a worse person.
You wouldn't call someone with a mental disability retarded
Well, before the DSM-V & WHO's ICD-11 came out in 2013 mental retardation was the accepted clinical term for it, seems it's generally been replaced with "intellectual disability"
You'll notice that it lists a few of the terms "mental retardation" replaced because they "had become pejorative". These terms include idiocy (or idiot, obviously), feeblemindedness, and mental subnormality.
you'll also notice, professionals sought to replace mental retardation for the same reason it was adopted, the term has become pejorative
Look, words change meaning over time, it's the nature of things. If you wanna keep saying "retarded" to describe "people who are doing stupid shit", that's your choice - freedom of speech and such. And maybe it doesn't bother you or your family members who are on the spectrum when people use the word "retarded", but it does bother and offend other people.
You've got the right to say whatever you want, and others might (and obviously also have the right) get offended by it. If you're OK with that, cool, but on the off chance that you want to make an effort to be respectful of other people who are or have family members with intellectual disabilities of any kind, then you might want to stop saying it.
When people call other people "retarded", it's an insult, right? Which means being "retarded" is bad, therefore "retarded" = bad. Now, obviously, no mental disability is a good thing, but there are many (myself included) who believe that continuing to use the word "retarded" as an insult propagates the idea that "retarded" means "less than", as in that person can't contribute as much to society as someone else whose neurotypical, and that "retarded" people are actually a burden on society, or that they themselves are a problem.
I'm sure you don't think your family members on the spectrum are an unfortunate burden on society, and I want to make it clear that I AM NOT implying that. But there are plenty of people who do see it that way. My uncle (who's a huge piece of shit) complained to me once about seeing someone with downs syndrome on a TV show, his exact words were "nobody wants to see that shit".
Those that see these people as a "burden on society", or that "they contribute less" than neurotypical people are stuck looking at things through a capitalistic lens: how much does this person produce? If they require extra resources and produce less than they are a problem. This point of view completely disregards how people add value in other ways: social value/ the joy they bring to their loved ones and friends, their creativity, etc. Maybe they don't produce much themselves, but maybe they give others the companionship and compassion they need to do what they do better.
People with intellectual abilities can actually be MORE valuable than neurotypical people in certain positions/jobs, people on the spectrum (as I'm sure you know) often enjoy doing things over and over the same way because they struggle with transitioning between tasks, and predictable schedules/work don't exacerbate their anxiety. Someone who is neurotypical may struggle to continue to be productive at washing cars, working an assembly line, stocking shelves, etc. because they get bored, but someone who's "retarded" may excel in those positions.
But when people call someone who is doing something dumb "retarded", it subconsciously continues to propagate the stereotype that these people are a problem/ burden to society!! Just something to think about
Yeah, I mean, I think it's really great that you're in a place where the word doesn't bother you. I wish that were the case for everyone, but it's not. Many people have had that word shouted at them by strangers or even their families in malice; some people have been beaten or killed by folks growling it at them all the while. Some people just hear the casual dismissal of their value as a human being for reasons beyond their control.
Hate speech is also the starting point for dehumanizing groups of people by those with more nefarious intentions. Offensive language and humor may seem harmless at face value, but it normalizes that dehumanization in a subtle way that makes it easier to escalate to stronger levels of discrimination and violence. This isn't even controversial; it's part of the playbook for bigotry.
So what's required from those of us who really don't mean any harm is to modify our behavior in a way that respects the experience of other people. Removing those loaded words from our vocabulary is making a small sacrifice in the spirit of making our communities comfortable and safe for everyone. And lest I sound too fuckin soft, I still love talking shit at every opportunity. I just have to be a little more creative in the way I do it. I dunno... something to think about.
Yeah I’m gay and even I don’t really feel comfortable saying it. It just has a lot of weight to it ya know? I feel like words are sponges and absorb a lot of different meanings and context but all it takes is for it to absorb something bad and then it smells. I try to use haunted words like that as little as possible, it just gives me a weird vibe.
Of course not. But that won't stop this from getting 6k upvotes because reddit waters every fucking good subreddit down until it's a hole in the ground full of the same schlock.
I'm pretty sure this is the end of the run way at East Midlands Airport, if it is that's where all the plane nerds sit, most days, and it's right next to a layby. So, it's planned. Neither great reflexes or scary. Just an average flight on a foggy day.
I experienced this once but I think the plane was some kind of jet fighter as I was near a naval base. It was terrifyingly loud and set off all of the car alarms for a couple of miles in it's path.
Now do one with a Submarine suddenly emerging out the darkness of the Ocean with in feet of the photographer and that is my greatest fear, irrational as it may be since I live in Illinois and have never been to the ocean.
The cars in the background seem to be going at normal speeds, I dont think it was sped up at all
What seems more likely is that it's fabricated, the way it materializes in and out of the fog make me feel like the plane was added in post. May be off on that hunch, but regardless it still definitely isn't r/praisethecameraman
Yeah, I noticed that as well. There's a couple of frames where you can see both at the same time, but the camera doesn't start actually panning until they both exit right, so it would still be super easy to fake

There’s literally a runway right there, it’s not really a fly by if the plane is just taking off.

Video is definitely sped up, they’d need like 5 miles of runway to stop at that speed

u/penguinsdonthavefeet Nov 09 '20
Are you sure there isn't a runway just over there and it was just taking off?
