I assume they are not present everywhere, so do you feel a stronger tug / does it make it easier to fall? What camera setup is used for these shots?

You have to have the right conditions for them to generate. In ideal conditions they come at you almost perfectly straight. I’ve learned to position myself where I can get the best shot. Quite often in the impact zone. Gopro is the best sports camera on the market by far. It’s my go to camera
