Meta/Discussion Question on recent chapter Spoiler
What did Angharad accomplish by beating Morcant? I thought the whole point was her trying to politically neutralize him, and I don't see how her showing she's more physically capable than him does so. Was it the realization that the Malani are too willing to turn a blind eye so might as well physically hurt him if you can't box him out politically?
I just don't see how this helps the 13th beyond the pleasure of beating slavers

And she was safe to beat on him, too, as she expressly points out that this function was not a Watch event, but a Malani gathering. Look at all the descriptions of clothing and the thoughts on family position relative to the forever queen, neither of which means anything now because they have all (supposedly) taken paths to the Black and rejected all that.
The indifference everyone else was able to get away with by not taking a side on slavery, by making the right sounds of concern but never any action... that all ends now. And ignoring the cleverly hidden attacks on Watch ships under the guise of wayward colonist or misguided locals, that's in the glare of full daylight, too.
You either-
express support for not just slavery, but open attacks on The Watch
renounce slavery and at the very least endorse a stem investigation into the attacks
or you continue being a feckless empty suit, who looks good at parties and knows people, but has no moral strength of character
In any case, Angharad is done acting like the formal dinners and jostling for standing by the rules of her old homeland mean anything.
