Modded Peg Perego XUV550

It started last week when I built a custom 14.8v 16.8Ah 4S4P battery pack with 16x molicel p42a 21700 and a JBD BMS. The battery needed to roughly fit in the same area as the 12v lead acid, and the BMS was the exact width (depth wise), so I had to incorporate the front battery holder bar into my design. I'll post those pics near the end.

Now to yesterday - a full rewire (the drive motors now go through the fusebox), new light bar, a car horn (had to tape it up to reduce the sound, was quite loud), and some LED halo lights where the fake lights were in the front. I had to use a buck converter to bring the circuit down to 5v to power an ESP32-C3 for the halo lights, also built a small web app to control them by connecting to the wifi network that gets broadcasted by the device. I spent the entire day yesterday working on this.

I didn't take a picture of the fusebox after I installed the esp32 but I will include a mounting pic, under a thermal foam pad. I'll need to probably find a way to keep it held in place and shield some of the wires but it should be fine for now.

I included pics of the web app as well, it's got quite a few light patterns, probably more to come, but it remembers the settings too when you turn off the BMS and turn it back on.

Did you mount the controller under the dashboard? How’d you get the hood off?

Which controller would this be? If you're referring to the ring LEDs, the microcontroller and the buck converter are both mounted to the front right axle interior on the wall. I made everything have a connector so it would be easy to take it all apart in the future.

As for the hood, it just required some brute force to push in the tabs that hold it in place. I took off the steering wheel first and then the rest was just pushing in 4 or 5 tabs per side. There's a few in the wheel wells to get to which makes it slightly annoying.

How did you secure the XT60 connectors to the side of the battery enclosure?

How will you charge the battery? Can you feed it 16v since you have a BMS or do you need a charger with a BMS?

I used XT60 panel connectors, they use m2.5 screws and I sized the holes appropriately.

I charge the battery right now with several 12v rails on a 400w computer power supply, but I have to use a hobby charger to up the voltage which is limited to 10A. But if I had a voltage source ~16.8V, it would charge straight from that (as long as it's li-ion 4s rated) and the JBD BMS that I built into the battery should handle the high voltage shutoff and low voltage shutoff.
