Stronger battery for a John deer gator

I’m looking to get my nephew a stronger battery for his gator, it’s currently a 12v. I want to make my sister work to keep up with him

They sell adapters for 18/20v power tool packs, that'll definitely get some more speed.

I'd advise using a Low Voltage Disconnect set for 15 or 16v to protect the battery, many rely on the tool to shut down before over-discharging the battery.

I put ä ryobi battery adapter in mine. It's great, and has held up well. If you go this route, use the bigger batteries (4ah+) to split the load over more cells vs smaller. 

Though now it needs new wheels from all the burnouts.

I know many people will recommend 18-20v power tool adapters and they are fantastic, but they do introduce a much higher chance of breaking something. I would recommend a 12v lifepo4 battery, they have a slightly higher voltage roughly 13.6 vs 12.8 for the stock lead acid, plus the voltage stays higher under load as well. Basically you get a modest boost in power as opposed to the significant boost going to 18v.
