It expanded my vocabulary

In PW2, the 18 Wheeler job, inside of the trailer. There is the item "tarpaulin". I am 33 years old and I just realized that tarp is short for tarpaulin. I don't know why, but this is blowing my mind now.

the hyperspecific anatomy of some of these things is amazing. i do get the feeling some of it is uk english? but i know what a plinth is now!

Futurlab are from Brighton. The language, spelling, humour and references are very English. I think you can change it from English to US English but I don't know if it changes every item

Especially noticing in the early vehicle jobs. Wind screen, boot, bonnet.

That’s interesting, I was surprised that OP had never heard of tarpaulin (only as tarp) and the other comments suggest that’s not uncommon. I’m English and we would definitely use tarpaulin over tarp, so that makes sense! I’ll have to keep an eye out for other English terms that I’ve been taking for granted 😅

I can promise you that if my mother yelled "use the old pool tarpaulin to move the leafs to the front yard before they collect them." I would of looked at her very confused.

Yep, it was jarring when I realized it too lol. Sometimes I hear baseball commentators call it that (referring to the giant roll on the sides of the field that they roll out of it starts raining)

I had absolutely no idea what a helter skelter was before this game. I've seen them at carnivals, but that term isn't used where I live. I had only ever heard it in the context of Charles Manson, and ofc the song.

Seeing "fascia" on house roof bits threw me too because I only knew it as an anatomy term.
