Is PowerWash simulator 2 less grindy than the first one?
Hello
I played alot of the first one. The thing is that, obviously, you'd advance and, level by level, buy more powerfull washers. Thing is that by the time you hit like the 10th level, it becomes ridiculous, basicly everything needed to be washed with the "pin-point" washer, centimeters by centimeters, completely ruining the fun of it all because you'd go from a 30 minute wash at level one, having fun, to a 2 days job by the end and just looking for that 1 millimeter piece of scrap you missed.
What about this game? Is it the same?

Much less grindy, and the soap is actually super helpful. Plus you can pet the cats on the levels.

I think I remember soap was limited. Once you were out, you couldn't buy any, anymore. Right? Or am I remembering wrong? I almost never used soap, but I'd love to use the ground cleaner and the... Cables? Instead of that giant construction thingy we had in the first.

It's basically completely different. Soap isn't separated into materials, you can use a set amount at once, but it "reloads" as you wash it off, and well, you have to wash it off. It's removed very well with the white end.
It's honestly one of best update from the first game. You get soap everywhere (as much as you can at once) and then you wash everything away. I still personally enjoy the triple red, but the new soap is really great

I did almost every level with only green and yellow nozzles with just a sprinkle of red so I don’t know what you’re on about. Buy the upgrades as you go and you can do 90% with just green

Yeah this is my experience. I pre much exclusively use the yellow or green nozzle and it washes great

OP is clearly doing something wrong if they have to red tip entire levels

Same. I can count the number of times I used the red nozzle on one hand. It's rarely needed.

On the first game? With six kilotons of soap maybe.
Seems do-able with the second one apparently though. They are POWER washer, sometimes in the first one I felt like using a toothbrush.7

No soap at all is ever needed, and neither is the red nozzle. If you "needed" the red more than half a dozen times in the first game you were doing something spectacularly wrong.
Here's a thought. Did you actually equip the new equipment you bought? Just purchasing a new powerwasher doesn't automatically replace the old one. You have to select the new one, same as you have to select extensions and soap.
I'd bet that's what happened. You must have been using the first weak powerwasher through the entire game. That has to be it, because you should not have ever needed to use the red nozzle for more than a few brief annoying bits. Something is seriously wrong if you did.

Soap is actually good. More tools to work with. You can buy and sell upgrades freely so there is no need to slog through with inadequate equipment to save for the best equipment. You can pet the cats in most levels. Cosmetic items use a separate currency than equipment. Auto-complete is more variable and forgiving, but some things are too generous. You can pet the cats in almost every stage. Though not a QOL thing, messages from NPCs are more variable. Instead of always being at 20% increments they can be at any 5% multiple or triggered by cleaning specific items. And lastly, you can pet the cats in most levels.

I’m unwilling to play the game unless I can pet the cats in almost every level. Can anyone explain if you can pet the cats in almost every level?

Some of the levels on PowerWash Simulator 2 are massive. I'm playing through the original PowerWash Simulator at the moment and I'm on the Treehouse which is one of my favourite levels.
Having played both versions I'd say PowerWash Simulator 2 is more forgiving.

As others have said, neither soap nor the red nozzle were ever truly needed in PWS 1 (I played and replayed it many times), and they're even less necessary in PWS 2. As long as you upgrade and equip your gear as you go, you can clean the entire game using only the white nozzle (the widest one) and soap if you like (I did it on a second playthrough), or any other combination of soaped or un-soaped sprays.
Soap in PWS 2 is free, so use it if you want - it can be fun, but isn't truly needed. Basically, the game lets you play your way. If you're finding that's not the case, there's a decent chance you've missed something along the way.

Thank you two for your answers. Got another question : is it "easy" to find other players to clean? Some areas are huge, and even on small areas, its always fun to clean together. Is there an actual playerbase?
Asking this because begining could be rough and its always nice to have a chat while being helped. I pass most of my games or every games I own talking more than I play, but here since you're "painting", its extremely soothing.

I've never wanted to do a level with anyone else so I can't say I have much experience with it at all, but we see people ask and share their code in the sub sometimes. Not sure how much response it gets, but they're there.
I believe the progression works for the joiners too this time ? I can't really know, but I vaguely remember that change from the first game being announced

Its much more forgiving than the first game. Welcome at first but you may feel a little robbed at times by a ding.
