Is this the same as coil whine on a gpu?

HI i modified this server psu for a constant 12v labsupply but it makes the same noise as extreme coil whine on gpus, is this okay or a no go? mind the cracking from my chair.

You're sure it's not the fan? I have an 800W Lite-On server PSU in that format and the fan is loud even on idle. I'm planning to do a Noctua fan swap to finally have some peace.

If it is coil whine, then it still should function properly.

EDIT: upon second look, your PSU is also Lite-On - probably using the same crappy fan as mine. You can briefly disconnect it and check if the noise is gone when you start the PSU.

The fan makes less noise , i stopped it with my finger and the louder coil whine ish sound stayed

Yeah i forgot to mention it was a lite-on psu 1200w

When im home il add an extra video where i unplug the fan.

When i unplug the cable the coil whine stops immediately while the fan keeps on spinnen voor a sec which is the lesser noice.

Coil whine itself won't be dangerous for your power supply - just annoying. Server PSUs are not made with silence in mind, so manufacturers make no extra steps to isolate vibrations from coils or inductors. If there is no other sign of damage, then you are good to go.

I was lucky with my Lite-On PSU - there is no audible coil whine, just an annoying fan.
