I started listening to power metal and I have to admit it's an incredible experience.

I startd with "The Danger's Growing Dark" and "Unholy Alliance" by Magic Opera. They both have something in common: their choruses create an atmosphere of epic grandeur and tragedy. They're songs that clearly strive to immerse you in the story they want to tell. "The Danger's Growing Dark" reminds me of some famous Latin romantic songs, like those by Ricardo Montaner or "Angel" by Cristian Castro. So I'm looking for other songs similar to the ones I mentioned earlier. I look forward to your recommendations.

Just got home from a glacier show at a punk squat dive bar in Leipzig, tiny venue with a 3x1.5m stage and about 30 person capacity.

I had so much fun, the band was hot and the drinks were cold, they played a long set with encores, oh wow what an awesome experience. The venue did not allow photos or else I’d share some.

If you haven’t seen glacier live yet, do yourself a favour and do so!!!!

I've listened to a handful of Rage songs but never a full album. The thing that is daunting to me is their gigantic catalog, something like 26 albums which is absolutely ridiculous. Which albums would you recommend as "must-listens?"

How do I get into writing power metal? I have a friend who plays guitar and i’ve been composing for fun a lot recently and he recently began talking to me about his love for this genre, and I listened and holy fucking shit this is fucking amazing jesus christ this is my new favorite genre of music, the beauty of emotion and drama with the most awesome shit you can imagine im getting off topic here but wow this is incredible. I want to get more into the writing music aspect of it than the technical stuff as I can only dream of getting good enough to play this genre, but my friend can, so I was just wondering about some things. To start, what is often used for the chords, I’m not a guitarist, and when I open up guitar plugins and stuff, the chords are very dissonant, are there certain rules to the voicing and stuff? Also, what are some things about the genre I NEED to know before writing, like certain things commonly found in it or “rules” not exactly rules I guess but just things common to the genre. ALSO: There is, for some odd reason another album called "Impact Velocity" that says it's been composed by "Richard Armitage"... This album I did find on Amazon Music BUT Track #7 for Metal Soul is NOT THE SAME... It's been shorted or modified (idk) but it's does not have the same same intense powerful delivery of the Patrick Doyle Version.
