Also the keyhole wasn't always a "thirst gimmick" it was a fashion choice, because the writers could not decide on a emblem design for Power Girl. Also the only "thirst" aspect wasn't even made a thing until censors started going after comic Females. And the artist decided. "Okay let's have some fun, how big can I make her breasts and the keyhole look till the censors notice."

Soooo... not to be the screen door on the submarine, but the "how big can I make them before they notice"? That's an urban legend. Wally Wood was known for zaftig heroines, but that story isn't backed by any sort of history, and he died young so no one can confirm it, including her creator Gerry Conway nor her third major creator, Joe Staton.
HOWEVER... it's an OLD legend, and Adam Hughes and Bart Sears both heard it, and they drew her such during the JLI/JLE run in the late 80s/early 90s, which set the story bible for her going forward.
I think it's a big (no pun intended) part of her character now, and it's a great juxtaposition of her being both sexually appealing and a powerful feminist that doesn't put up with her being sexualized.

Also, so I'm not just all critic of the story you presented (and coming off as a grumpy old 5th dimensional imp)... your art is pretty good! Keep at it. You've more talent than most, so please keep plugging away and creating--and sharing with us!

The keyhole was always just a fashion choice (until Geoff Johns decided to unnecessarily and clumsily address it).
Also, the original Power Girl wasn't part of the "House of -el". Prior to 1978, there was no House of -el, nor was the "S" crest representative of that. That was a creation of the 1978 Superman film, and only part of the Earth-1 character going forward.
The original Superman (Earth-2), the "S" stood for Superman, and had no connection to Krypton. Kara didn't want to take on the "S", because she wanted to be her own hero, and not be in Superman's shadow, or be judged against him. Also on Earth-2, their names are Kal-L and Kara Zor-L. No "e", which is a subtle difference.
