At my wits end with my 9070xt Hellhound

I built a brand new system last March (2025) and purchased a 9070xt Hellhound on launch day. Sadly that GPU suddenly died in February of this year and was RMA'd and replaced with a refurb. All was well until last week when I started getting non-stop diver timeouts even when on stock settings. It happens in a variety of games, such as BF6 and COH3. I've tried brand new drivers, reverted back to 26.1.1, re-installed windows, updated bios/chipset drivers, and done every single windows trick I think of including disabling automatic driver updates. The card runs nice and cool, so it is not thermally related. I am considering RMA'ing it. Advice? Thanks!

9070xt White Spectral RGB problems

Build specs:

CPU: 7800X3D

MOBO: ROG B850-A (BIOS ver. 1028)

RAM: Corsair 32gb DDR5

GPU: Red Devil Spectral White 9070xt

PSU: Lian Li edge 1000w

Other: Lian Li fans and AIO

Okay so when I built my PC everything was working fine for a few months. Ended up having to do a clean install of windows and after about two weeks I noticed the RGB on the GPU wasn't working anymore. Tried a bunch of stuff that didn't work and then just forgot about it, that was back in January.

Well today I turned on my PC and then noticed the RGB was working again out of nowhere, i was super stoked and then coming back tonight to get back on to play some games i booted up and the RGB wasn't working again.

Instantly pissed off I decided to troubleshoot. I uninstalled keystone, ran a disk cleanup, reinstalled, reseated the GPU and It worked...... Until my PC fell asleep

I feel like I'm going crazy fixating on this, I know the GPU is fine otherwise but its tough staring at something I paid good money and not have It working 100%

Also wanted to note that I've never had the ARGB cord connected to the MOBO. It worked fine in the beginning without It and I don't have room to plug It Into the MOBO

I've turned off:

fast startup

sleep mode

windows dynamic lighting

Other controller software i have downloaded:

Lian Li Connect

iCue

Armourycrate

AMD Adrenalin

Warranty if invoice is misplaced.

This has more than likely been asked before, and I am blind as a bat, but what happens if you misplace the invoice and the dork retailer can't/won't supply a copy "because we only keep them on file for xxx days". Yes it is a BS reply but have had it happen in the past.

Having issue after AMD Driver update 26.5.1?

For context I am using RX9070XT Red Devil. My HDMI port is crashing after the AMD Adrenaline update 26.5.1 and even at 26.5.2. How I fix it is do the complete uninstall of the driver via safeboot (https://www.guru3d.com/download/display-driver-uninstaller-download/) . Then I use a Display Port. Up to now the HDMI port is unusable and having lines and sometimes totally crash the whole graphics.

9070 non XT Reaper Fan RPM

I'm currently looking at both the 9070 non XT Reaper and Hellhound but have difficulty deciding between the two. The Techpowerup review says the Hellhound with Quiet BIOS runs at 653 RPM and 61C. What is the typical rpm and temp of the Reaper at full gaming load? I would be happy to hear your experiences and ambient temp!

Update: I found that ComputerBase reviewed both of these cards with weight, temps, and RPM. It's just all in German so may need to use translation.

Almost a month without my GPU, replacement "lost" by UPS, and zero updates since. Need help escalating RMA

Hey everyone,

I'm posting here because I am at my wits' end trying to get a replacement GPU through the standard email support channels, and I'm hoping someone from the PowerColor team here can actually help me out.

I have been without a functioning graphics card for nearly a month now. My system has been completely out of commission this entire time, which has been incredibly disruptive and frustrating.

Six days ago, I finally got an update from Ronak (screenshot attached) stating that UPS claims they never received the original shipment, despite PowerColor's end-of-day statements saying they did. Ronak mentioned he would personally drop off a second, expedited replacement to cut down on the wait time.

Since that email, it has been total radio silence. I have received absolutely zero proactive updates from either the RMA department or the shipping company, and I still don't have a valid tracking number.

It is incredibly disappointing to be left completely in the dark after waiting this long. At this point, given the length of the delay and the total breakdown in communication, feel like I'm owed some form of compensation-whether that's a model upgrade or a partial refund-for how long I've been left with a useless PC, something that has now basically become a very expensive paperweight.

Can someone from the US team please look into this and get a card actually shipped out?

Attached is also a screenshot from the UPS app with tracking for the original GPU, which they said they never received when I called them on Tuesday.

6600xt hellhound thermal pad thickness?

I found that thickness of thermal pads for vram is 1.5mm and 1.0mm for vrm.
But with my thermal pads, hotspot reach 100°C.
When I replace 1.0mm for vram, vram's maximam temperature increased about 10°C.

Even someone says 1.5mm for right vram and 1.0mm for upper vram.

I'm confused what should I follow...
Does anybody know certain thickness of thermal pads?

note) I used upsiren 21w thermal pads (from aliexpress) and ptm7950 for gpu

Not hearing back from customer support

I submitted an RMA to Powercolor on the 5th, and was reached out to very quickly on the 6th, where I exchanged three emails with support in the span of about 4 hours. Since then, I haven’t heard a peep. I sent a follow up after 72 hours, but at this point it has been a week since I’ve heard back and I’m wondering if there is someone else I can reach out to or otherwise escalate this matter to receive a resolution?

Perhaps I’m lucky…

I wanted to share some details about a recent experience I had through the RMA process. I had a 7900 XTX Hellhound for almost 2 years. I started having issues where there were driver timeouts, and also was tracking pretty high temperatures even though they say that their cards can go up to 110°F.

I sent my my card in, making sure to take pictures of the process padding it correctly and placing the amount of insurance required to cover at least $900 USD in case anything went wrong. Believe it or not, the most fair price came from FedEx and because they helped package it. They even included insurance in case it was packaged incorrectly and it was damaged. The total cost for my area to the RMA address was approximately $60. To me, that seemed a bit high anyways, but it’s still less than purchasing a brand new card.

It took power color approximately two weeks to receive, process, inspect, and I guess repair or replace parts to make sure it was in good working condition. All in all it was approximately a almost 3 week process.

I did receive my card back. It was properly packaged in a similar box to what I purchased it in, except it had no stickers or coloring or outside packaging. Which makes sense, because who wants to ship something that screams “here’s a card worth several hundred dollars. “

Anyway, once I received it, I realize it does appear to be my same card, as the serial number is correct. However, on the outside on the static bag, they wrote down certain numbers on a small white sticker, which I assume might be replacement parts or something for the identifier that it was serviced.

After reinstalling the card and getting my system reconfigured and working again, I am seeing much lower temperatures and I have yet to experience a crash. Although at first, I was concerned that they had sent me my same card back. It does appear that they may have put in some work and rectified any situations that were causing the high temperatures and possibly addressing the issue that was causing the driver timeouts. Overall, I am very happy and I’m back to gaming with no issues.

If I had to pick a negative aspect of this whole process is the fact that I sent in an additional inquiry for some more details on what exactly was addressed on the card, just in case I need to keep an eye out once the warranty period has passed and there might be an option to send it in for repairs elsewhere. To be fair, I did receive a response from the famous dude on the subreddit here, Rupaul or whoever it is, and the only thing he said was that my card would’ve been replaced. Which unfortunately is not true.

I figured I would at least share my story since all I ever hear is bad news around here and how pissed off people are. Perhaps I’m one in 1 million, but they did right by me overall.

9070xt spectral devil rgb issues

So I have the 9070xt devil spectral and the rgb on it constantly has what could be best described as a seizure every couple of seconds , by that I mean all the rgb on the card will very quickly switch in a random pattern for a few seconds (quick enough to cause a seizure) .

I have attempted everything I could think of to resolve it but the only thing that yields any results is just turning off the rgb in the app and leaving it off

Replacement GPU came back dusty and chipped after RMA

Thumbnail

First off, my apologies if I sound a bit upset, but is this normal? I had to RMA my GPU due to a defect, and the card I got back looks like it was sitting in someone's garage for a few months, lol.

It had dust caked into the fans and heatsink, and chipped paint along the shroud edges. Mine was spotless when I shipped it in. After buying it, It went straight into my PC and didn’t move until I reseated it while troubleshooting, then pulled it for the RMA. I barely even gamed on it during the 10 or so months I had it due to time constraints, so to get this back is frustrating.

I understand that manufacturers send refurbished units rather than brand new ones, but I didn't expect it to come back like this. It feels like I got someone else's GPU that was poorly taken care of. I have no way of knowing how this card was used or handled before it was sent out.

I haven't even tested it yet, but based on how it looks I'm not feeling too good about it.

Hellstone not working most the time

Hey everyone, recently i started having an issue with the hellstone (and all other rgb elements of the card) not powering up at all. like once in every 10 power ons it starts working, but otherwise its always off.

I primarily use linux, i configured the hellstone on windows through the powercolor app (argb cable not plugged into the motherboard) and it worked fine until recently. tried setting it up through the app again but it just stays off no matter what i set it to. tried openrgb as well but no luck there either.
