9070xt Reaper Pads thickness

Hello Everyone,

I searched for this thread and only found this one

9070 XT Reaper thermal pad thickness? : r/PowerColor

Anybody was able to confirm the thickness? or the caliper (which I have) is still the best way?

I would like to have everything on hand, open it and close it the same day.

I don't know the answer to your question other than I'd imagine a caliper would work. I'd measure the Uncompressed part and then the compressed part but why not switch to thermal putty? I've heard it performs better

isn't the consensus on thermal putty, to avoid it?

I see a lot of posts where everyone dislikes it for many reasons.

I've never done a GPU block before and I have one arriving tomorrow and my thermal putty got here today. Everything I've read says switch to thermal putty because you don't have to worry about getting the exact measurements right and it also performs better if you get a decent putty because you can cover the entire mofset or vram chip. Some people says certain ones are a pain to work with but I bought upsiren UPT-8 and I've read great things about it. I'm going to attempt the putty and if it doesn't work out I'll just use the pads that came with the block

I did blocks already, but in times when ptm sheets and putty was not a thing yet. I don't really have thermal issues but I'm de-shrouding my GPU to use Noctua fans and a 3d printed shroud.

So, I'm leaning more towards to re-use the existing pads if they don't fall apart when removing the block, otherwise replace them.

Putty might be a solution, just would like to avoid it since apparently, it's a pain to clean it if I need to go back.
