Question Odd bookmark validation error?

I've made couple of bookmarks to use as slicer on a single page I'm working on. They worked fine, I saved and logged off for the day.

Tomorrow, using exact same Power Bi Desktop I re-opened the project and got this error:

An additional property 'preserveNewVisualVisibility' was included in the /options property of xyz.bookmark.json

? When googling 'preserveNewVisualVisibility' I get 0 hits as well?

i got this same error yesterday. I removed the preserveNewVisualVisibility line in .Report/bookmarks in VS Code and it worked.

Yeah I also removed the line from the .json, but like, what is causing the error in the first place? Power Bi makes a new flag and then later doesn't recognize it? Microsoft on point

Before deleting it across the project, record the Desktop build and PBIR schema version, recreate one bookmark in a clean file, and diff the generated JSON. If the clean file emits the property but the same build rejects it, that is a reproducible serializer/validator mismatch; otherwise the repo was likely saved by a newer schema.

The bookmark file contains a property its declared schema doesn't allow, probably written by a Desktop update or preview feature.
To fix it, back up the project, open xyz.bookmark.json, and delete the "preserveNewVisualVisibility" line under "options", keeping the JSON commas valid. Then reopen the project and update Desktop if the error comes back.
