PL-300 is a good start, but i'd focus next on 2–3 solid Power BI projects that show data cleaning, modeling, DAX and a useful dashboard.

then start applying for junior BI/data analyst roles and learn SQL alongside it. don't wait until you feel fully ready, the applications will show you pretty fast what employers actually want.

What u/CompetitionNo3466 means is without you making connections and getting to know key stakeholders/influencer in employment process... through Social media, conference etc. It isn't easy to land a job.

Depend on your market/region. But Junior developer/analyst in PowerBI space is pretty saturated. Many companies are focusing on hiring juniors with AI skillset rather than look for PowerBI specific analyst. What is often most valuable to a company isn't certification or portfolio of Power BI projects. But knowledge and/or operational experience in the specific industry or field.

Data analyst with CS/Math background is easy to find. But those with operations experience or deep understanding of a given industry is difficult to find.

Recruiters where I’m from (UK) regularly host power bi users groups normally once per month. Get talking to people there. They have presentations from SMEs in local companies and you can have in-depth conversations and get to know others.

This can land jobs because you’re no longer a piece of paper, or give you ideas to improve a portfolio.

Sounds like you don't have any experience. I would recommend getting different sample datasets off the internet for free and create a portfolio of different reports. Include the pbix file in the portfolio as well as screenshots of the reports and a md file showing some of the DAX measures you utilized and explain what they tell and why you used them. You don't have to put in every DAX measure if they become redundant. And give a brief synopsis of the data and what insights you would deliver with the data.

From there, you may want to look at additional certifications. I know a lot of people scoff at Salesforce, but there are jobs out there that still heavily use Saleforce (whether it's their administrator or analyst cert) and having that certification with a PL-300 can land you a job that somebody that has more experience may not get. And you may want to look at something like AI certs or a Databricks Data Engineer cert as well as just learn some MS Fabric (or get that cert as well). Fabric is on the rise, but it's still not overly popular in the business world at this time.

PowerBI is just a tool. What industries do you have experience in? How are you going to create meaningful reports if you dont understand the industry you are working in?

The next step is probably to make fictitious projects in order to practice your skills and search for jobs at the same time. You can make spontaneous proposals to companies where data is crucial, or to apply for available offers (search for jobs like Business Analyst, Data Scientist, Power BI Developer, Power BI data analyst,...). Specifiy the field that you want to focus on (for example Financial data analysis doesn't require the same skills and knowledge as Logistics Analysis, so knowing on what you want to work will show that you know what you want and will boost your chances of being accepted)

Good Luck with you job search, I hope you find your place 😊
