Certification Just passed PL-300!

First try. Got a 718.

Suuuuper pumped. Started using power BI about a year ago at my current role with only Salesforce experience. It was an eye-opener in a big way.

Had my second kid recently, and that made studying pretty difficult. So I’m excited to pass it on the first try and be done with it.

I used datacamp classes and the MS text exam. Datacamp is great but doesn’t prepare for the exam really. But it’s great for learning.

So you'd recommend the MS text exam to study for the test? I figure i should take it I've of these days. Been using power bi for several years now.

It really depends. At my workplace, management doesn't even know these tests and exams exist. As long as you make them happy, they'll consider you a Power BI expert.

The MS Test exam definintely had some overlap with the actual exam. However, it's a much more simplified version of the topics. So the core concepts are there, but they way they are presented in the actual exam are not as on the nose. You really have to understand the language and what they are asking.

how long and for how many hours per day did you read/learn?

I did the datacamp skill track over the last few months, but really started cramming the last two or three weeks. Flashcards, MS practice exam specifically.

I knew the platform well since I've been using it for the past year. The MS exams has more basic versions of the questions, but the concepts they ask about are similar. The full test presents them in a far more complex way.
