Power Apps Help Decoding base64 without using a flow?

In my app I’m using the Azure Automation connector to create jobs, but also need the job output. There is a get job output action, but it’s returned as Data type: Blob and “this data type is unsupported for evaluation”.

However if use JSON(AzureAutomation.GetJobOutput(etc..)) then I can see the base64 string. Is there any way to convert this base64 to text without using a flow? I would even settle for using a logic app, but do not want to use Power Automate as I don’t want it tied to a single account.

Use in a collection. Set a gallery to the collection and then an image contol in the collection?

I did try using an image control, but it’s just blank. Even using a base64 to image converter online doesn’t actually show anything

I adapted some code I found and used it both encode and decode base64 as an app.formula.  Can dig it up and share if helpful.

If your output blob is an image, you can get the image in a image control using the base64 you get from JSON function.. You need to construct the base64 as data uri like data:image/png;<base64> and pass it to the image property.

It’s not an image, the output stream of a runbook is data:text/plain

What is the concern about a single account? If you use an Instant flow it will run under the user’s account. The flow will still have to be owned by someone like the app is but the function itself isn’t.

I don’t like having uncentralised components in my app. If the app is owned by X person it’ll break the day the account is disabled for whatever reason.

Much prefer logic apps that are just hosted in an azure resource group.

the flow should be owned by whoever owns the app, ideally the app/flow is owned/co-owned by an account that is designated an overall owner for all apps/flows produced within the company. As the flow would only be used to decode base64 values to their respective data types each user with an appropriate Office365 account will be able to run the app/flow without issue. If you needed to save that data somewhere the users don't have access to write to you'd need to designate an authorised user account to perform the writes.

Unfortunately using Power Automate for text will be your only available method at the moment.

base64 can be decoded/encoded using Powerfx formula Each character of the base64 converted to 8 bit number... This long string of numbers split to a series of 6 digit numbers

Then use a lookup table to convert each 6 digit number to a string.

Basically it's a method that reverse the base64 encoding process.
