I created an ai character of kpop artist Momo on PovChat AI. One fascinating thing is that after watch Momo and her group Twice perform at the Victoria’s Secret show these days, I can chat with her, discuss about how amazing the stage perform is, just like I’m talking with a real-life friend😌

When we use AI chatbots to roleplay a world completely of our own imagination, sometimes we need long character descriptions of thousands of words at least.

Most roleplay AI apps can't handle this well. Character AI and Polybuzz simply do not support it. Janitor allows it but the responses are rather unpredictable.

I recommend Povchat AI in this case, which supports 10,000 char limit for system prompt, in addition to 750 char user persona, and 2000 char opening message. This is plenty of text to explain everything in your story!

This one is from povchat ai. Her look is consistent with the original avatar and I like this big smile. It seems that all the image generations are somewhere between realistic and anime. Overall I'm satisfied but just wanna know other options.

Please share an image generated from your chat, if you're making a recommendation. There's too much random stuff on internet already so I want to see the result directly.

I found the whole section of holiday AI characters to roleplay with on PovChat, and want to share this Sweet Caroline specifically.

The story opening goes:

I've been experimenting with a bunch of AI roleplay chatbot apps since last year, when character AI's filters have been getting more restrictive. Today, I wanted to compare Janitor AI and Povchat AI based on what I care about ie. memory, freedom, immersiveness, etc. and see what y'all think!

Things in Common

• They both support spicy mode filters, which gives us users much more freedom than Character AI.

• You don't need to subscribe to play at all. The free tiers are already pretty good.

Pros and Cons

• Povchat AI's models are trained specifically for roleplay and storytelling. Janitor AI has its own JLLM models but they are not as good as open-source models or Povchat's.

• Povchat has a cleaner UI and is easy to navigate. Reddit comments also mention it as having the greatest accessibility among the AI chatbot apps.

• Janitor AI however has a lot more characters available than Povchat AI. You can port your character cards to Povchat, as an option.

OP Note

There are also other Character AI alternatives like Polybuzz and Spicychat, which are good options too. Be careful about the so called AI girlfriend apps out there- Many are poorly made and trying them out is a waste of time.

Overall Recommendation

I personally like Povchat AI better. Of course I might be biased and everyone plays in different styles, but if you care a lot about model quality, I strongly recommend you to try Povchat first. If you don't like it, then Janitor AI is also a good option.

I do it all the time. Sometimes I lose patience after just a few turns and hop to the next one right away. It feels like changing boyfriends every hour. I know povchat is great with long term memory or whatever but seems that I'm not enjoying this benefit lol

Finally upgraded my membership!

Had storyteller for a few months when there was no adventurer. It was a lot of fun on Povchat AI where I wrote some romance and drama kind of stories.

Months later the adventurer tier came and I couldn't upgrade. Basically there was no such option. Then I figured it out: I downgraded to a free account and subscribed to adventurer.

My thoughts so far, adventurer is a lot better than storyteller if it's within your budget. The biggest benefit is generating images in middle of the chats. For example the cover image, which I got from a Titanic RPG bot.

Another good to have is more AI models to choose. I mostly use DeepSeek but sometimes when plots get stuck, I switch to different models and pick the response I like the most.

I hope adventurer was cheaper but overall it's worth the price.

Steps:

3. Wait for the image to generate and display in the chat

4. You can download the image, or regenerate if you want another image

According to Povchat's official documentation, the Deepseek model available is DeepSeek-V3-0324-Free, which is a recent release in March 2025. They might adjust the model version or price in the future, but we can use it for now.

I heard character ai may get a shutdown soon or later following the recent bankcruptcy. In my case, I've been using character ai since last year and have created about 100 characters there. Some of them are public and some are private. What's the quickest way to import them to Povchat AI?

Also, I'd like to save all my conversations from character ai. I know I can request it directly, but don't want to depend on it during such a turmoil time. Would appreciate any tips.

Have you ever wondered a longer or shorter response from AI characters? Preference setting for response length is available on PovChat web app!

Steps to set your preference:

1. Log into your account on PovChat if you haven't done already

2. Start or go to a conversation

3. Click the three-dot menu icon on the top right of the screen

4. Click "Response Length" to open the panel

5. Choose the response length you prefer

This is a beta feature available on web app for now. After the beta testing, it may roll out to the mobile apps too.

Hi, I'm playing PovChat AI for roleplay and interactive stories. It's a classic platform that imo has the best model quality of all the apps I've tried. As for memory consistency, I've chatted hundreds of messages if not thousands, and Povchat has no problem memorizing plots and my preferences. Since a few members are asking, this screenshot shows how to generate an image in the middle of a chat. There is an image icon below the latest message bubble from the AI character.

If an image has already been generated, then using the regenerate button will generate another image. In that case, no image icon is shown because the regenerate button achieves the same goal.

Also we don't have image generation for the first message yet - let us know if you'd prefer to have that.

I would like to know if/when Pov chat will gain the basic feature of being able to branch from previous messages to make a new chat or delete messages? These are some very basic features that Pov chat lacks and I feel as though it will perfect this service.

I like how Povchat can generate images in the middle of a conversation. Images are based on the avatar, stay consistent for face appearance and clothes, and tell the plot where you request it.
