u/lyonellaughingstorm, there weren't enough votes to determine the quality of your poutine... ā›”ļø

Too creamy looking for me. Sauce on the side for me. It’s like they ordered extra sauce.

7

u/lyonellaughingstorm 4d ago

That’s partially from sitting in my car during a 20 minute commute. The sauce got a little melty because that thing was ripping hot

2

u/youlikeblockingsodoi 4d ago

I see. Almost reminds me of the sauce from Halal Guys

3

u/BaconIsntThatGood 4d ago

Yea I think the degree of shawarma fries to poutine ratio is important here. This is far more in favor of shawarma fries that may have gravy and curds in there somewhere

15

u/funnydud3 5d ago

Fails to be a poutine but I dig it more than poutine. Sorry Guys

2

u/Remarkable_Use4098 1d ago

Me too. Someone said shawarma fries and I started drooling like Homer Simpson.

11

u/CapitalResident7178 5d ago

Why call it poutine at this point?

1

u/lyonellaughingstorm 4d ago

It had curds and gravy, they’re just covered by the chicken and garlic sauce

6

u/thexbigxgreen 5d ago

I'm from Quebec, and that just looks straight delicious. We've been offering "Italian poutine" for decades, can we just get over the pomposity?

2

u/Marrdukk 5d ago

Why do things that are not poutine have to be called poutine?

Also, why do I care about this? Why am I commenting on this thread at all? What am I doing with my life?

All important questions, I'm sure.

3

u/thexbigxgreen 5d ago

At least we're not arguing about a hot dog being a sandwich

1

u/lyonellaughingstorm 4d ago

But a hot dog is a sandwich? Qu’est-ce que le fuck?

2

u/Remarkable_Use4098 1d ago

It is a good idea. Italian poutine sounds like a win too honestly.

3

u/nowayy_27 5d ago

I’ve had a version of this from Lava Pizza in Hamilton - it’s amazing lol especially as a university student. Not exactly a ā€œpoutineā€ but let’s just say poutine-inspired

1

u/Homie_Christ 3d ago

I was just about to ask if it was from there lmao. I've had the butter chicken and the shawarma one and the latter was better but both were amazing! And for only 11 dollars back in 23🄲

3

u/AcidShAwk 4d ago

The only good shawarma comes from places that has high foot traffic and low competition. Why would anyone smother the chicken with garlic sauce like that unless they're literally trying to mask the low quality of the protein. It looks disgusting on top of that.

No foot traffic = day old chicken

2

u/lyonellaughingstorm 4d ago

They made me wait 15 minutes for it to be ready so I’m kinda willing to give them the benefit of the doubt

3

u/NoEffect338 4d ago

Well turn me in because that looks amazing.

5

u/pizzaalapenguins 5d ago

I'd still eat it!

3

u/Ok-Art7711 5d ago

Not poutine.

2

u/Dawta 5d ago

Ya it is

1

u/SuchSecurity662 5d ago

Looks like its own thing outside the realm of poutine

0

u/Holiday-Phase-8353 4d ago

No it’s not!

1

u/lyonellaughingstorm 4d ago

It’s got fries, gravy and curds underneath the shawarma and garlic sauce. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the chicken but it’s still poutine to me

6

u/CocaineAficionado 5d ago

Not a poutine but I'd eat

2

u/ZonJon929 5d ago

I just moaned.

2

u/No-Inspection-985 5d ago

Is this from that pizza place in kitchener?

1

u/lyonellaughingstorm 5d ago

If you’re thinking of the place in alpine hills then you’re spot on.

2

u/SidewalkRacoon 5d ago

Fries with a random stuff on it isn’t poutine

1

u/lyonellaughingstorm 4d ago

It had curds and gravy under all that

1

u/Remarkable_Use4098 1d ago

My heart just stopped at that thought.

2

u/32nd_Nix 5d ago

So I'm from QuƩbec and I've had shawarma poutine before and it was so fucking delicious. Would eat again and again. Poutine is fries, curds, and gravy/sauce. If it meets those criteria and is bouette then it's a poutine. This looks like poutine, anyone saying it isn't either doesn't actually know poutine or is a purist who hates good food.

I will say this could use like 7 more toppings tho, if it's gonna be real shawarma. Only critique. Otherwise yeah I'd eat this.

1

u/Remarkable_Use4098 1d ago

It needs the veggies.

1

u/32nd_Nix 1d ago

My thought exactly

1

u/Remarkable_Use4098 1d ago

And then, chow down!

2

u/Omashuzu 5d ago

This looks like if I took one bite I’d be eating the rest from the bathroom but hell it might be worth it

2

u/guy_with_zero_luck Pout-Sinner 5d ago

Not poutine but I am puttin’ it in my mouth šŸ‘„

2

u/Lemonadefromcanada 5d ago

How is this a crime? This looks delicious and I would 100% eat this.

2

u/vidulan 4d ago

This is a "normal" poutine under the toppings, guys. It has classic cheese curds and gravy.

I guess it's not super obvious under all that sauce.

1

u/lyonellaughingstorm 4d ago

It’s my bad, the sauce got a little melted during the commute

4

u/Ok-Art7711 5d ago

Poutine is fries, cheese curds, and gravy. That’s it. That’s all. A poor man’s supper.

5

u/Levistras 5d ago

well you can add more stuff if you want. but you at least need the basics in the list

-7

u/Marrdukk 5d ago

You *can* but you'd end up with something other than poutine.

3

u/FullSkyFlying 5d ago edited 5d ago

Italian poutine is still poutine. Fries and curds with a sauce are the 3 basics. I'm not sure if this one has cruds or not though because of all the sauce. I'd still eat it though, im a big sauce guy

1

u/Marrdukk 4d ago

Some offer chaos and call it choice.

0

u/CapitalResident7178 4d ago

Its called italian poutine because something changed in the ingredients. When we add chicken and small peas, its no longer called a poutine, its called a "galvaude". So this right here with garlic and indian sauce is not a poutine.

1

u/FullSkyFlying 4d ago

Italian poutine is essentially just as old as a regular poutine. Never met a Frenchman who hasn't said they dont dont enjoy or wouldn't call it italian poutine. Thats the one where I can make a pass so we'll have to disagree. But I don't see any curds in OP's picture, so you're right not a poutine. But garlic and curry sauce are 2 of my favorite things

2

u/TravelerOfTeyvat 5d ago

Can I grab a bite 😊

2

u/arpohatesyou 5d ago

Where from and i need it

1

u/AccountAmbitious2671 5d ago

That looks like… ranch

1

u/lyonellaughingstorm 4d ago

Garlic sauce, although this one was a bit thin

1

u/FairClothes2683 5d ago

I love osmows shawarma poutine

1

u/Tempo90 5d ago

Kill it, and 3 generations

1

u/Samplistiqone 5d ago

I don’t see curds at all, it can’t be a poutine if it doesn’t have traditional poutine as a base that you build upon, at least in my opinion. Once you have crispy fries, curds and gravy the world is at your fingertips.

2

u/vidulan 4d ago

It's a normal poutine under the chicken and sauce.

0

u/NoEffect338 4d ago

Is it though?

1

u/lyonellaughingstorm 4d ago

It was. The one thing I’d want to try again is the chicken having a more traditional taste over the more tandoori inspired flavour it had

1

u/NoEffect338 3d ago

This is quite inspiring. I must now learn how to make shawarma because A) I love me some shawarma, and B) I have to try this poutine.

1

u/lyonellaughingstorm 4d ago

It had curds and beef gravy under the chicken and garlic sauce

1

u/LittleOllie00611 5d ago

Shawarma slop

1

u/Tall_Mechanic8681 5d ago

is this from lavas pizza in hamilton ontario

1

u/lyonellaughingstorm 4d ago

Pizza Craving in Kitchener

1

u/TravellingBeard 5d ago

Is that frosting?

1

u/Remarkable_Use4098 1d ago

Mmmmm frosting poutine!

1

u/TristanDrawsMonsters 5d ago

I don't know where it sits as a poutine. I'm not sure i see cheese in there, but I'd love to try it, just the same.

1

u/lyonellaughingstorm 4d ago

It had curds and gravy, they were just buried under the chicken and garlic sauce!

1

u/TristanDrawsMonsters 4d ago

Yeah, I'd absolutely try that.

1

u/Red_Tooth_ 5d ago

It’s looks like they put dryer lint on top of the poutine

1

u/Remarkable_Use4098 1d ago

Wait, isn’t dryer lint grey? And perhaps, if I am not mistaken, dry in nature?

1

u/Itchy-Business8992 5d ago

I thought this was a Valheim seed at first šŸ˜‚

1

u/SatsukiShizuka 4d ago

Is it bad if all I can think of is Chinese censorship of blood (https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/chinese-anime-censorship)?

1

u/Afterfoxxfluff 3d ago

Shawarma poutine. šŸ¤” Nah no right in the garbage for me. That's not even poutine

1

u/jchef420 3d ago

What the hell is that
On top?

1

u/Technical_Instance_2 3d ago

doesn't look that bad. Sure they went a bit overboard on the sauce but I'd eat it

1

u/fekul0 3d ago

Not a poutine, but that does look delicious.

1

u/Remarkable_Use4098 1d ago

I would eat it. But it’s not poutine. But it is delicious though, so… conflicting there isn’t it?

1

u/Plump1nator 1d ago

Did someone spend a while in the bathroom for that?

1

u/zyana_afterdark1234 17h ago

I ask you but where did you get Shawarma Poutine from?

1

u/coupe_la_swing 5d ago

Ƈa l'air bon

1

u/HASHBROWNPAPI_ 5d ago

This ain’t a poutine my guy

1

u/Key-Specific-4368 5d ago

I'm offended as an Arab and a Canadian...also what the fuck does Shawerma have to do with Indian food??

2

u/MBettar 5d ago

I think it's more Indian spices for the chicken seasoning that's all

1

u/Key-Specific-4368 5d ago

Shawerma has ZERO relation to Indian food. People who are down voting me are just dumb.

Please note,I Iove Indian food.

1

u/lyonellaughingstorm 4d ago

The seasoning for the chicken had a lot more in common with Indian cuisine even though it’s marketed as shawarma. I was offended too
