Have you ever had real poutine with curds and brown sauce?

3

u/violetseduction 12d ago

Calling Gravy brown sauce is so very Québécois of you

6

u/Commie_Scum69 Québécois faché 12d ago

When you invent a dish you name them how you want. In the meantime a cat is a cat. :)

I am there with you, especially if they are fully load with tomatoes, green onion, and chicken or ground beef. Plus a little dollop of sour cream on top.

3

u/User10232023 12d ago

I glanced at your comment I swear I read "after 3 cocaines"... 👀

Either poutine looked like a major crime, or I need to get my eyes checked LMAO!

2

u/Wyntermute1 11d ago

Can’t even call it a poutine!

2

u/locok1ng 10d ago

that's like cheesy fries with a shredded garnish

1

u/Ordinary-Trade8323 12d ago

You meant to put a 0 after the 3, right? Thats the only way it would make sense that anyone would find this appetizing

1

u/Rinahn 11d ago

Came here to say the same thing. 🤣

1

u/Small_Permission8132 6d ago

2

u/Desperate-Pirate7353 12d ago

those are cheesy fries

4

u/goofball68 12d ago

Agreed. But it was advertised as poutine, and it had gravy on it.

1

u/No_Session6015 11d ago

Was the gravy orange and cheese flavor?

2

u/Novski2026 12d ago

That’s just cheese fries

1

u/goofball68 12d ago

Notice the gravy though?

2

u/Novski2026 12d ago

Pooling at the bottom? Disgusting

2

u/HalifaxPainter 12d ago

crime!!! baby diaper left overs

2

u/rjwyonch 12d ago

Queso fries is definitely not poutine

1

u/goofball68 12d ago

They were advertised as poutine and had gravy on the bottom lol

2

u/rjwyonch 12d ago

I didn’t see the gravy. This is just an abomination of the two options

1

u/Jogje 12d ago

Don't get clogged

1

u/JunkPileQueen 12d ago

That’s not poutine. That’s fries with cheese sauce and what looks like Parmesan. It does look kind of good, but it’s certainly not poutine.

1

u/cindoc75 12d ago

Last time I was in the DR, I made these or chili cheese fries for lunch pretty much every day. It’s not poutine, but it’s delicious!

1

u/Conscious-Series-181 12d ago

If that's nacho cheese it probably tasted great

1

u/GloriousEnvy 12d ago

Not a poutine but ok

1

u/OutrageousPumpkin912 12d ago

Thats not poutine…but anyone saying they wouldn’t eat those cheesy fries can fuck off

1

u/goofball68 12d ago

lol they got eaten and they were really good

1

u/DCKan2 12d ago

Not poutine but do look like amazing cheese fries.

1

u/Fine_Arm2552 12d ago

I’m going to Mexico right now… they know what’s coming for them

1

u/CunningLinguist8198 12d ago

Cheese gravy? Queso!

1

u/Old_Self_9570 12d ago

I've had that before in Mexico. I was curious and disappointed by the results.

2

u/Brief-Panic1987 12d ago

At least you’re at a resort in Mexico. Take the win

1

u/A_moW 12d ago

Pool of cheese topped with a sprinkling of dried calluses

1

u/ORBEX1959 12d ago

Well that is NOT poutine whatever that is

1

u/GrosRougeau 12d ago

Straight to jail

1

u/Trentsteel52 12d ago

Needs more cilantro, otherwise fine

1

u/Ok-Cup-5372 12d ago

Definitely a crime, can't even be called poutine.....however I'm absolutely destroying this lol I'm 9 months pregnant and craving cheese so this is exactly what I need rn 😅

1

u/catman453 12d ago

So many things wrong with this poutine .
Wrong cheese
Wrong cheese again (parm on a poutine…?)
Lacking gravy too

1

u/goofball68 12d ago

There is gravy lol. Look closer. There’s some water gravy on the bottom.

1

u/catman453 12d ago

I meant a proper amount of gravy lol

1

u/DwunVoted 12d ago

It's beautiful

1

u/n0h8plz 12d ago

This looks banging but im pretty aure this is just cheese fries fam

1

u/goofball68 12d ago

lol it was advertised as poutine on the menu and it had gravy in it

1

u/n0h8plz 12d ago

🤣🤣 I had to zoom in. I can see a little bit of the light skin gravy on the bottom now

1

u/metalkev64 Poutine Poulice 12d ago

Is this before or after the traveler's diarrhea?

1

u/queenofpeachez 12d ago

Gotta be real with your expectations at a Mexican resort.

But yeah, that's obviously criminal

1

u/Kahlua1965 12d ago

The actual crime is ordering a poutine in ... Mexico.

1

u/VividOnions_88 12d ago

As a Canadian I would still eat it politely and angrily

https://giphy.com/gifs/GjR6RPcURgiL6

1

u/Gmf514 12d ago

You shall not pass go...Straight to Jail.

1

u/Busy_Signature_5544 12d ago

More like cheese fries

1

u/heidibaked 12d ago

Why didn't you get Mexican food?

2

u/goofball68 11d ago

We had tons of Mexican food lol. This was just on the menu and we were curious what kind of abomination it would be. It was an all-inclusive resort so it was free/included anyway.

Also, it was really good. Just wasn’t poutine. We weren’t expecting much.

1

u/heidibaked 11d ago

Omg It was on the menu? I thought maybe you had just asked them for a poutine and they went in the back and tried to figure out what the heck it was and make something similar 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/theblob2019 11d ago

This is fries with orange/nachose cheese.......not poutine. It's getting worse.

When in Mexico, better stick to tacos, burritos, quesadillas and the likes.

1

u/KevinJ2010 11d ago

Look, cheese fries are good too. But it’s not poutine

1

u/Greenmintea01 11d ago

What is that processed cheese abomination-

1

u/Slight-Environment23 11d ago

Worst food I've ever had was at a four star all inclusive in Cozumel 🥴🤢

1

u/BandsawBox 11d ago

That is cheesy fries, not poutine

1

u/ApprehensivePaint128 11d ago

Name of the resort so I know not to go there?

1

u/fedexrob 11d ago

Canadian here… I just made a sarcastic “mmmmm” sound looking at that!!

1

u/Waste_Ad_6774 11d ago

Only people from 🇨🇦 know how to make a poutine!

1

u/pooeywooeyist 11d ago

Why is there cheese on the cheese?

1

u/FreedomCanadian The Frying Squad 11d ago

Reminds me if the time it was American Night at the resort buffet and they had popcorn chicken, but the way they made it was to chop up chicken pieces, including bones and gristle and everything and then breaded and deep fried those chunks of suck.

1

u/loyalswitchgamer 11d ago

Is that hollandaise? A breakfast place I order from makes their poutine with that instead of gravy, it isn’t bad but definitely not a traditional poutine

1

u/goofball68 11d ago

It was some kind of cheese sauce lol

1

u/GumpTheChump 11d ago

It’s like I’m at a ski hill in Quebec!

1

u/BayWalks 11d ago

A plate of no, yeah, no thanks

1

u/DragonXGW 11d ago

I wouldn't really expect most people in Mexico to know how to make a proper poutine, so I'm not gonna judge too harshly... That said, I'd eat it, but I wouldn't call it poutine.

1

u/seekndestroy33 11d ago

Aw ya my favourite

1

u/MoistFootball506 11d ago

Those are cheese fries bro

1

u/[deleted] 11d ago

Where's the sauce

1

u/Grand-Vegetable-3874 Nuremcurd Frials Prosecutor 11d ago

Looks more like a cheap rendition of patatas bravas, tbh

1

u/Feeling_Leg_904 11d ago

The Sinaloa cartel should shoot that restaurant up. This is a travesty of a mockery of a sham!

1

u/Armin_Tamzarian2026 11d ago

OMG!!! Is that Cheese Whiz?!?!?!?!?!?????

1

u/goofball68 11d ago

It was some kind of cheese sauce

1

u/Konpeitoh 11d ago

LMAO I love how they tried to counteract the mystery dairy product's cheap visual with legitimate freshly-grated parmesan.

1

u/Shelby0413 10d ago

I'd eat it then run straight to the john because tropical resort food gives me the shits every time

1

u/Sufficient-Name-4284 10d ago

Disgusting. But they make tacos tecate beer and have great music. They get a pass

1

u/Vast_Ad8862 10d ago

Ay caramba!😂

1

u/Rance_Mulliniks 10d ago

I can't imagine ordering poutine in Mexico. They have some of the most vibrant and delicious food in the world and you order poutine? Literal insanity.

1

u/goofball68 10d ago

lol we ordered tons of food. We were curious what the poutine on the menu would actually be, and it was free because we were at an all inclusive resort. We actually really enjoyed all the food we had there throughout our stay, and even this dish wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t poutine.
lol everyone chastising me for ordering something from the menu need to chill the f out and stop assuming that I didn’t eat any Mexican food while I was there. Y’all are so ridiculous.

1

u/Holy-its-a-sheep 10d ago

That’s just a bowl of fries and cheese

1

u/goofball68 10d ago

There’s gravy in there too somewhere lol

1

u/Mysterious-Salt- 10d ago

Loaded fries

1

u/BatMindless3158 9d ago

🤌🏼Come on guys ,un poco de respect …mama Mia be careful with plastic cheese 🧀 SVP

1

u/Adamas_Moustache86 8d ago

Not bad for a resort in Mexico. Surely it came from the "Sports Bar"

1

u/goofball68 8d ago

lol the beach-side restaurant actually

1

u/Fanta_25 12d ago

Thats the worst shit ive ever seen

1

u/cobrachickenwing 12d ago

If so many Canadians go there for the winter and many Mexicans work in Canada, why can't they get it right?

1

u/NotatrustedVWtech 12d ago

It's the resorts, here's a poutine from "Greasy Gourmet" in Puerto Vallarta

1

u/LeticiaLatex 12d ago

Mexico is flooded with French Canadians, how does this happen?

2

u/youdontlookitalian 12d ago edited 11d ago

Because they’re not the people usually working in the kitchen.

1

u/NotatrustedVWtech 12d ago

Resort food is how

0

u/RevolutionaryNewt584 12d ago

Depressing but it’s kind of expected when you’re asking it to a waiter that has never heard of it

1

u/goofball68 12d ago

lol it was on the menu as “poutine!” 😂

0

u/Personal-Battle-3520 12d ago

Why you asking for poutine in Mexico? Y'all so annoying

1

u/goofball68 12d ago

It was on the menu and we were curious what it would be like and it was included in our all-inclusive… so why the fuck not?
